Disappointing season concludes

Kmet caught two passes for three yards in the Bears' 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday.

Kmet posted a career year in 2023, when he recorded 719 yards and six touchdowns. However, the tight end had been the No. 2 option in the team's passing attack. This year was much different. The Bears had three quality wide receivers, but they also had an inconsistent passing attack. As a result, the tight end was targeted 55 times, leading to 474 yards and four touchdowns. In terms of yardage, this was easily the worst season since Kmet's rookie campaign in 2020. The former Notre Dame player will need the Chicago passing attack to take a major step forward if he is going to return to being a solid fantasy option. Kmet is under contract with the Bears through 2027.

Blanked in Thursday's loss

Kmet wasn't targeted in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Seahawks.

Kmet was far from the only Chicago player to post an underwhelming stat line as the Bears produced just 179 yards of offense en route to a 10th consecutive defeat. The lone target among Chicago's tight ends Thursday went to Gerald Everett. Kmet will look to bounce back in Week 18 against a Packers defense that permitted him to catch three passes for 42 yards back in Week 11.

Scores touchdown in losing effort

Kmet caught two passes for nine yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 34-17 loss to the Lions on Sunday.

Kmet found the end zone for the first time since Chicago's Week 7 bye. In the last three games, the tight end has a total of three receptions on three targets. Kmet also has one game with more than four targets over the last eight games. Although the veteran is a talented player, his scoring floor remains low due to lack of volume.

One grab in loss

Kmet caught a 14-yard pass in the Bears' 30-12 loss to the Vikings on Monday.

Kmet has slowed down drastically since the Bears' Week 7 bye. The veteran has five games with 14 yards or fewer in five of eight games. In addition, Kmet has caught four passes for 40 yards over the last three games. The tight end will remain a risky lineup option in the fantasy playoffs.

Not targeted in Week 14 loss

Kmet didn't see a single target in Chicago's 38-13 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.

Despite the Bears playing from behind all afternoon, Caleb Williams attempted just 23 passes. Chicago simply couldn't move the football versus San Francisco and ran just 52 offensive plays. Kmet was on the field for 92 percent of the offensive downs, and he's played at least 92 percent of the snaps in five consecutive games. That playing time alone keeps him on the fantasy radar ahead of a Week 15 date with the Vikings.

Brings in all three targets Thursday

Kmet recorded three catches (on three targets) for 26 yards during Thursday's 23-20 loss at Detroit.

Four days removed from earning 10 targets during a defeat to the Vikings, Kmet fell back to what he more or less has received most weeks this season (26 targets in the nine games in which he didn't see double-digit looks). Elsewhere in the Bears' skill ranks Thursday, DJ Moore led the way by a large margin with an 8-97-1 line on 16 targets, Keenan Allen scored twice among his five catches for 73 yards on eight targets, and Rome Odunze (2-25-0 on six targets) and D'Andre Swift (2-35-0 on three targets) also got in the act. With that knowledge, Kmet likely will resume his modest role in Chicago's offense in his next game Sunday, Dec. 8 in San Francisco.

Earns 10 targets

Kmet recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 64 yards in Sunday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Vikings.

Kmet benefitted from a particularly pass-heavy game script for the Bears, commanding double-digit targets for the second time this season. He took advantage by tallying long gains of 20 and 14 yards, the latter of which directly led to a Bears' field goal just before halftime. Kmet's spike performances have been tied directly to more passing volume from Caleb Williams, and the Bears could be forced to the air often in a Week 13 matchup against the Lions given the defense's stout run defense. Even given that possibility, he's a risky option as he's seen five or fewer targets in all but two contests on the campaign.

Tallies three catches Sunday

Kmet hauled in all three targets for 42 yards during Sunday's 20-19 loss to the Packers.

QB Caleb Williams experienced a bounceback Week 11 against a Green Bay defense that often put up little resistance, and the Bears' top three wide receivers all earned at least seven targets. Meanwhile, Kmet again remained mostly quiet since the Bears' Week 7 bye, putting together a cumulative 6-69-0 line on eight targets over the last four games. This may be the status quo moving forward for the fifth-year pro, and his next chance to produce will arrive next Sunday versus the Vikings.

Another poor perfromance

Kmet caught two passes for 13 yards in the Bears' 19-3 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.

After the Week 6 game, Kmet was one of the highest-scoring tight ends in fantasy. Since the Bears Week 7 bye, the tight end has accounted for three catches and 27 yards in three games. Despite the early-season success, Kmet will be a risky weekly fantasy option unless the Chicago offense gets back on track.
