Arnold was set to spend the entirety of the 2024 campaign on Pittsburgh's injured reserve with a calf injury, but he'll now be free to sign wherever he pleases. The safety played in eight games with the Texans in 2023, compiling 18 total tackles and a forced fumble.

Arnold hurt his calf during practice Wednesday and has landed on IR one day later. The 26-year-old had been competing for a roster spot after logging 18 tackles (12 solo) and a forced fumble over eight regular-season contests with Houston last season. Coach Demeco Ryans said Wednesday that Arnold is ready to play nickel corner in place of Tavierre Thomas (hand), Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.
It's a new role for Arnold, who prior to 2023 had played just three defensive snaps over two seasons with Houston. It's not clear how long Thomas will have to sit out, but at least to start, it looks like Arnold will serve as his replacement.
