Returns to practice Thursday
Published: 2024-10-17
Shenault (back) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Shenault didn't practice Wednesday due to a back injury he presumably sustained during the Seahawks' Week 6 loss to the 49ers. He was able to practice without restrictions Thursday, however, and he should be good to go for Sunday's contest against Atlanta, barring any setbacks. Shenault has primarily served as Seattle's lead kick returner, and he returned a kickoff 97 yards for his first touchdown of the season against San Francisco.
Dealing with back issue

Shenault (back) didn't practice Wednesday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Shenault appears to be dealing with a back injury following the Seahawks' Week 6 loss to the 49ers, despite playing 21 total snaps (seven offensive and 14 on special teams) and returning a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown. His participation Thursday and Friday will be the best indication of whether he can play through the issue in Week 7, when the Seahawks travel to Atlanta.
Returns kick for touchdown

Shenault returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown in Thursday's 36-24 loss to the 49ers. He finished with 189 return yards.
Shenault lost a fumble on a kickoff return earlier in the game, but he made up for the mistake with a key kickoff return touchdown in the second quarter to keep the Seahawks in the game. The 2020 second-round pick has just four catches for 26 yards this season, but his special-teams acumen will remain beneficial for the Seahawks.
Will play

Shenault (foot) is active Sunday against the Dolphins.
Shenault was a late addition to the Seahawks' injury report, sitting out Friday's practice with the injury. However, it won't stop the Colorado product from suiting up against Miami on Sunday. The 25-year-old has two catches on three targets for six yards on the season.

Shenault is dealing with a foot issue and is questionable to suit up against the Dolphins on Sunday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Shenault practiced in full Wednesday and Thursday before sitting out Friday and popping up on the injury report with a foot issue. Though he has been deemed questionable for Sunday versus Miami, coach Mike Macdonald is optimistic that Shenault will be able to suit up, per John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site. The wideout has logged 10 snaps on offense through two games while serving as Seattle's primary kickoff returner.
One catch in Seahawks debut

Shenault caught his lone target for no gain and rushed once for one yard in Sunday's 26-20 win over the Seahawks. He also returned three kicks for 74 yards.
The Seahawks are using Shenault in a gadget function, as he played just seven offensive snaps. As the No. 5 wide receiver, Shenault has little fantasy utility outside of deep leagues that generously reward return yards.
Snares three passes

Shenault caught all three of his targets for 27 yards and rushed once for five yards in Saturday's 16-15 preseason loss to the Titans.
Shenault has performed well as a gadget player, and while he didn't return a kickoff this week, he already proved he's an option in that facet during the first preseason matchup. The 25-year-old receiver appears to have the edge over Dee Eskridge (undisclosed) for the No. 5 wide receiver role. Shenault could handle some designed touches during the regular season if he does secure that role.
Joining Seattle's WR corps

The Seahawks are in line to sign Shenault, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Before landing on IR this past November due to an ankle injury, Shenault recorded 10 catches for 60 yards and 12 carries for 55 yards, while also returning six kickoffs for 167 yards in eight regular-season games with the Panthers. Now presumably past his injury, the 2020 second-rounder will provide wideout depth for the Seahawks behind DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, though initially Shenault's primary impact figures to come as a returner.

Shenault finished the regular season with 10 catches on 10 targets for 60 yards and 12 carries for 55 yards in eight games. He also returned six kickoffs for 167 yards.
Shenault landed on injured reserve in late November due to an ankle injury. When healthy, he remained in a gadget role that attempted to highlight his tackle-breaking potential. After seeing his production drop off in consecutive seasons upon joining the Panthers, the former second-round pick will now become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
