Undergoes surgery, placed on IR
The Eagles placed Okwuegbunam (abdomen) on injured reserve Tuesday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Okwuegbunam underwent a core muscle repair procedure, and he is projected to be out for six to eight weeks. With the Eagles scheduled to have their bye in Week 5, the 2020 fourth-round tight end could aim to return to action for Week 6 against the Browns on Oct. 13. McLane notes that Philadelphia has released E.J. Jenkins, meaning Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra are the only two active tight ends on the roster for the time being.

Missing practice again
Okwuegbunam (abdomen) did not participate at practice Saturday, Andrew DiCecco of InsideTheBirds.com reports.
It was previously reported that Okwuegbunam's abdomen injury is not serious, but it's at least somewhat concerning that it's still keeping him off the field as the regular season approaches. Whether he gets a spot on the final 53-man roster may depend on how many tight ends Philadelphia's opts to keep on it.
Sits out of practice
Okwuegbunam (abdomen) missed practice Sunday, Zach Berman of PHLY reports.
The tight end dealt with a hamstring issue last season but this listing appears to be new. Okwuegbunam was also still out there for the session and appeared to just be "getting the day off," per Chris Franklin of NJ.com. The fifth-year pro is listed as the fourth tight end on Philadelphia's depth chart and did not catch a pass in his first season with the team last year.
Active for OTAs
Okwuegbunam (hamstring) has been participating in the Eagles' team OTAs, Fran Duffy of Big News Network reports.
Okwuegbunam was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury in late December, but he looks to be 100 percent ahead the 2024 season, his second campaign with the Eagles. The tight end appeared in four games with Philadelphia last year, failing to catch his only target. Okwuegbunam will likely operate in a depth role this season behind the likes of Dallas Goedert and newly-acquired C.J. Uzomah (knee).
Returning to Philadelphia
Okwuegbunam (hamstring) signed a one-year deal with the Eagles on Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Okwuegbunam spent the 2023 season in Philadelphia, but he was regularly a healthy inactive. In total, he suited up for only five contests and was on the field for 55 offensive snaps and five special teams snaps. Owuegbunam could see a slight uptick in his role in 2024, but he is very unlikely to make an impact on the stat sheet.
Moved to IR
The Eagles placed Okwuegbunam (hamstring) on injured reserve Saturday.
Okwuegbunam hasn't played since Week 13, though before this week his absences were due to coach's decision. He sprung up on Philadelphia's injury report Friday due to a hamstring injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the regular season and into the playoffs. Okwuegbunam won't be eligible to return to action unless the Eagles advance to the NFC Championship Game.
Out Week 17
Okwuegbunam (hamstring) has been downgraded to out ahead of Sunday's contest against the Cardinals.
Okwuegbunam originally received a questionable designation due to a hamstring issue, but Philadelphia will ultimately err on the side of caution. The depth tight end's next opportunity to suit up will come in the regular-season finale versus the Giants.
Gets questionable tag
Okwuegbunam (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
The 25-year-old tight end was a late addition to the Eagles' injury report, as he popped up as a limited participant in Friday's practice due to a hamstring issue. Even if Okwuegbunam is ready to play Sunday, there's still a chance he's inactive, as he's been a healthy scratch in each of the last three weeks.
Healthy scratch
Okwuegbunam (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's matchup against the Giants.
Okwuegbunam is a healthy scratch for a third straight week, which coincides with the return of Dallas Goedert from injured reserve. Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra will be the backups behind Goedert again.
