Cut from Packers' practice squad
Green Bay cut Allen from its practice squad Tuesday.
In a corresponding move, offensive lineman Michael Jordan was signed to the practice squad. Allen will now have to look for another opportunity with a different team.

Allen is set to join the Packers' practice squad.
Allen spent training camp competing against Ben Sims for the No. 3 tight end role behind rookies Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft. Allen ultimately came up short, but will now join the practice unit as the team's de facto No. 4 tight end. The 24-year-old spent the first month of his rookie campaign on the Giants' practice squad before landing a reserve/future contract with the Packers in January.
Let go by Green Bay
The Packers waived Allen on Tuesday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official site reports.
Allen signed a reserve/future contract with the Packers in January after being cut by the Giants in October. He'll be able to rejoin Green Bay on their practice squad once he clears waivers or could look for opportunities elsewhere.

Allen will stick with Green Bay after joining the team's practice squad Jan. 3. The tight end out of Nebraska originally signed with the Giants as an undrafted rookie in May, though he was cut from the team's practice squad Oct. 18 before ever making his NFL debut. Allen will now look to make an impression with the Packers this offseason.

Following Tuesday's transaction, the 6-foot-9, 255-pounder will now serve as an emergency depth option to Green Bay's tight end corps. Allen, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Nebraska, last played for the Giants' practice squad before being let go in October.
