Role shrinks in sixth season

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-17

Scott didn't play a very important role for the Eagles this season, finishing with 20 carries for 86 yards and adding four catches for 52 yards through the air.

Scott hasn't been a major part of the Eagles' offense at any point in his six-year career, but he'd managed to run for at least 217 yards in each of the previous four years, so his latest numbers represent a big step back. He also failed to reach the end zone for the first time since his two-game debut back in 2018. It's hard to envision the Eagles suddenly deciding to feature him more often next season.

Three carries in season finale

Scott rushed three times for five yards in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Giants.

With D'Andre Swift out due to illness and the Eagles resting several starters in the second half, Scott was able to play 20 offensive snaps, doubling his season high. The result was another uneventful game for the sixth-year running back, and it's fair to wonder whether he has a future with the Eagles given that he received just 24 touches (20 carries and four receptions) all season.

Non-factor against Cardinals

Scott didn't play a single offensive snap in Sunday's 35-31 loss to the Cardinals.

Scott hasn't been a significant part of the Eagles' offensive game plan at any point this season, but he's typically at least been on the field from time to time. Week 17's loss marked the fourth time this season that Scott's only snaps came on special teams.

No magic against Giants

Scott rushed once for three yards and lost a fumble in Monday's victory over the Giants.

Scott had developed a reputation as a Giant-killer, scoring in each of his previous eight matchups against the division rival. He's reached the end zone 10 times against the Giants and just seven times against the rest of the league combined across his six NFL seasons. The run stopped Monday, however, as he played a total of just two offensive snaps. He was also the victim of some misfortune on a kickoff return, when teammate Olamide Zaccheaus ran directly into him, forcing a fumble.

Non-factor on offense

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-19

Scott was almost exclusively limited to special teams Monday against the Seahawks, seeing the field for just a single offensive snap.

Scott went without a touch on offense in Monday's loss, something which happened on three previous occasions this season. He hasn't played more than 10 offensive snaps in any game this year, so he doesn't appear close to a fantasy-relevant role.

Minor role again

Scott rushed three times for nine yards in Sunday's 33-13 loss to Dallas.

Scott got the ball on every single one of his offensive snaps, but that stat gets less impressive when his snap count sits at just three. Two of those three snaps came on the final two plays of the game, garbage-time runs up the middle with the Eagles down three scores.

Two touches in loss

Scott finished Sunday's loss to the 49ers with one carry for two yards and one 27-yard reception.

By Scott's low standards, it was a productive day, as his 29 total yards represented his second-highest tally of the season. It's possible Scott sees a bigger role next week against the Cowboys if D'Andre Swift's undisclosed injury is serious enough to keep him off the field, but if that doesn't happen, Scott's average of 1.7 touches per game leaves him far from fantasy consideration.

Two carries in Week 12 win

Scott rushed twice for 14 yards and was targeted once with an incomplete pass in Sunday's win against Buffalo.

The game went into the fifth quarter, but Scott saw the field for a total of just five offensive snaps, indicating that he remains a very minor part of the Eagles' game plan. He's topped out at 10 offensive snaps this season, and that came all the way back in Week 2.

Minimal involvement in Week 11

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-22

Scott rushed two times for eight yards in Monday's 21-17 win over the Chiefs.

Scott played a limited role against the Chiefs, playing just seven of the Eagles' 56 offensive snaps Monday. The veteran's two carries were his most since Week 6 after he failed to record a single rushing attempt in his last two appearances. Buried on the depth chart behind D'Andre Swift and Kenneth Gainwell, Scott should remain off the fantasy radar when the Eagles host the Bills in Week 12.
