Returns to practice

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-09-21

Mafe (knee) was a limited participant at the Seahawks' practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Mafe returned to practice Thursday after missing the opening session of the week Wednesday. The linebacker missed the team's 37-31 overtime win over the Lions in Week 2 with a knee injury and he has now taken the first step to returning Sunday versus the Panthers.

Not able to suit up

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-09-17

Mafe (knee) is inactive Sunday against the Lions.

Mafe was able to log a limited practice Thursday, but the Minnesota product is still not ready to play. His absence, along with Devin Bush (shoulder), will leave Seattle light in their linebacker corps. Darrell Taylor will likely get the start at weakside linebacker against Detroit.

Questionable for Week 2

Mafe (knee) is questionable for Seattle's game against Detroit on Sunday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Mafe will look to be ready for Sunday after injuring his knee during the team's loss to the Rams last week. The 24-year-old, however appears to be trending in the right direction to play as he was a limited participant in practice Thursday after missing it entirely the previous day.

Limited practice Thursday

Mafe (knee) was a limited participant at the Seahawks' practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

After he missed Wednesday's session, Mafe was able to return to practice Thursday, albeit in limited fashion. The linebacker is dealing with a knee issue that popped up after the team's 30-13 loss to the Rams in Week 1. If Mafe can increased his participation at practice Friday, he'll likely be cleared prior to Sunday's matchup in Detroit.

Misses practice Wednesday

Mafe (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Mafe missed a practice session late last week due to an illness but was able to suit up for Seattle's season opener, tallying five tackles in a loss to the Rams. He was spotted in the injury tent during that contest and has emerged with a knee issue. Mafe's availability to play against Detroit on Sunday may depend on whether he is able to get back on the practice field before the end of the week. Darrell Taylor could pick up extra work if Mafe is unable to play in Week 2.

Ready for Sunday action

Mafe (illness) does not carry an injury designation Friday ahead of Sunday's game versus the Rams, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Despite missing practice Thursday with an illness, Mafe looks like he'll be a go for Week 1. He looks to improve on the 41 tackles and three sacks he tallied over 17 games in 2022.

Misses practice Thursday

Mafe (illness) missed practice Thursday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.

The outside linebacker is projected as Seattle's starter on the left side going into 2023. Mafe, a second-round pick in 2022, recorded 41 tackles and three sacks in a backup role as a rookie.

Underwhelming rookie campaign

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-01-20

Mafe posted 41 tackles (28 solo) and three sacks across 17 regular-season games during 2022.

The 2022 second-round pick (40th overall) averaged 24.1 defensive snaps per game as a rookie, as Uchenna Nwosu, Darrell Taylor and even Bruce Irvin all ran ahead of him. Mafe still has excellent athletic qualities in addition to a solid collegiate track record. Mafe has a good chance at taking a starting role in 2023, but fantasy managers should temper expectations considering the underwhelming rookie campaign from the 24-year-old.
