Makes first catch of season
Uzomah caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Patriots.
Uzomah has been targeted only once through three games, while Tyler Conklin has nine catches on 13 targets heading into a Week 4 home game against the Chiefs. With Conklin dominating targets among the team's tight ends, Uzomah has been a non-factor in the passing game, and that's unlikely to change moving forward.

One catch in Saturday's win
Uzomah caught his only target for six yards in Saturday's 27-0 preseason win over the Panthers.
Uzomah battled a leg injury in June and July, but the veteran tight end has been cleared to practice for a while and played without limitations while in the game Saturday. Tyler Conklin and Uzomah should once again see the lion's share of playing time at tight end for the Jets in 2023, though second-year pro Jeremy Ruckert could also enter the rotation. Ruckert injured his shoulder Saturday.
Cleared to practice
Uzomah (leg) passed his physical Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The tight end had been on the active/PUP list, but now that he has passed his physical Uzomah can return to practice. The 30-year-old recorded a 21/232/2 receiving line in 15 games with the Jets last season, and in 2023 Uzomah is once again slated to work behind TylerConklin, who hauled in 58 passes with New York last year.
Lands on preseason PUP list
Uzomah (leg) will begin training camp on the PUP list, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
The tight end suffered an apparent right leg injury last month and will thus begin training camp on the PUP list. As a result, Uzomah is not currently allowed to practice, but can be activated at any time. Once he returns to the field, Uzomah will be in line to reclaim his role in a Jets TE corps led by Tyler Conklin, which also includes Jeremy Ruckert and Zack Kuntz.
Limps off practice field
Uzomah left Friday's training session early due to a right leg injury, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
Uzomah limped off the practice field early Friday, so his status will need to be monitored. The 30-year-old tight end handled a depth role in his debut season for the Jets last year, tallying a 21-232-2 receiving line in 15 appearances. It remains to be seen whether Uzomah's injury will force him to miss any significant time.
Restructures contract for 2023
Uzomah and the Jets agreed Wednesday to a restructure of his contract that converts $4.5 million of his salary for 2023 into a signing bonus, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Uzomah's contract adjustment clears $3.6 million in cap space for the Jets, while it also makes it more difficult for New York to move on from the 30-year-old after this season considering that he's in line to account for more than $12.5 million against the cap in 2024, per Bridget Hyland of The Newark Star-Ledger. Uzomah, who tallied 21 receptions for 232 yards and two touchdowns across 15 games played in 2022, is once again slated to compete for snaps this year with fellow tight end Tyler Conklin.
Inactive for season finale
Uzomah (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's season finale against Miami, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
The soon-to-be 30-year-old tight end saw a season-high seven targets Week 17 in Seattle but apparently suffered an ankle injury in the process. He finishes his first year in New York with a 21-232-2 receiving line on 27 targets in 15 games (13 starts), while fellow 2022 offseason addition Tyler Conklin has seen more than triple that target total after signing a contract quite similar to Uzomah's. It is possible Uzomah competes for a larger role in the passing game in 2023, and he'll likely be back in New York given that $7 million of his $8 million base salary is guaranteed, per OverTheCap.
Questionable for Week 18
Uzomah (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh expects Uzomah to play, even after the tight end sat out Friday's practice. The Jets will turn to Joe Flacco as their quarterback for the season finale, and while Flacco will likely throw plenty of short passes, Tyler Conklin stands to benefit more than Uzomah among New York tight ends.
Thrown to season-high seven times
Uzomah caught three of seven targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 23-6 loss to the Seahawks.
Uzomah's season-high seven targets ranked second behind Garrett Wilson's 11, but fellow tight end Tyler Conklin was far more efficient with his opportunities, leading the team in catches (six) and receiving yards (80) on only six targets. Heading into the season finale against the Dolphins, Uzomah has 21 catches for 232 yards and two touchdowns on 27 targets in his first year with the Jets.
