Healthy scratch Sunday
Wilson (coach's decision) has been ruled inactive for Sunday's contest against the Chargers.
Wilson agreed to a reworked contract to stick with Miami during the team's final roster cuts, though it appears he'll be passed over for the season opener. In his stead, Erik Ezukanma and River Cracraft will slot in behind starting wideouts Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Braxton Berrios. Wilson caught 12 passes on 18 targets across 15 games in 2022, so he doesn't figure to make a significant impact unless there are injuries to Miami's starting wide receiver unit this season.

Agrees to reworked deal
Wilson and the Dolphins agree Tuesday to a reworked contract that will keep his roster spot intact, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Wilson's name was commonly brought up in trade speculation relating to the Dolphins all offseason, but by agreeing to a reduced salary he earns a chance to bounce back from his disappointing 2022 campaign. Per Jonathan Jones of CBSSports.com, Wilson is lowering his base salary to $2 million, with a $3 million signing bonus and incentives that can reach up to a total salary of $7.25 million. In all, the restructure frees up roughly $3 million in cap space for Miami, potentially signaling a forthcoming move by the team as Indianapolis' self-imposed deadline of 4 p.m. ET for a Jonathan Taylor (ankle) trade looms.
Underwhelms in 2022
Wilson secured 12 of 18 targets for 136 yards without a touchdown across 15 appearances with the Dolphins in 2022. He added eight yards on his lone carry.
Wilson fell back to earth after recording a career-best 45-602-6 receiving line with the Cowboys back in 2021, disappointing in the first season of his three-year, $22.8 million contract with the Dolphins. The 26-year-old's bloated contract could make him a potential trade candidate for Miami, as he carries a $7 million base salary for the 2023 campaign. If the Dolphins were to trade Wilson before June 1, the team would save $6 million with a dead-cap hit of just $2 million.
Ready to go Sunday
Wilson (hip/groin) is active Sunday against the Bills.
Wilson missed Week 18, but he was able to close out the week as a full participant in practice Friday. The veteran receiver should handle the team's punt return work, while also bolstering its depth at receiver against Buffalo.
Listed as questionable
Wilson (hip/groin) is questionable for Sunday's wild-card matchup against the Bills, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Wilson was sidelined for Week 18 due to a hip injury he suffered in Week 17, but he returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant and logged a full session Friday. So, while he's listed as questionable, it appears the Dolphins' punt returner is trending toward suiting up Sunday against Buffalo.
Returns to practice Wednesday
Wilson (hip/groin) was limited during Wednesday's practice, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
Wilson returned to practice Wednesday, albeit in a limited fashion, for the first time since he suffered the hip injury in Week 17. He'll have two more chances to practice before Miami needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's wild-card matchup against Buffalo, though it appears he's trending in the right direction to begin prep.
Won't play Sunday
Wilson (hip) is inactive Sunday against the Jets.
Wilson's inability to suit up should not come as a surprise, as he was considered doubtful for Week 18. His absence may lead to chances for Erik Ezukanma at receiver, but his inability to play will have a bigger impact on the team's punt return duties. Both Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle should be candidates to handle those opportunities against the Jets.
Unlikely to play Sunday
Wilson (hip) is unlikely to play in Week 18 versus the Jets, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Head coach Mike McDaniel said Friday that Wilson will be doubtful to play in the Dolphins' regular-season finale Sunday. The wide receiver will nurse his hip injury as Miami takes on New York in a must-win contest for their playoff hopes. In his absence, Tyreek Hill could take over as the team's primary punt returner.
Dealing with hip injury
Wilson didn't practice Wednesday due to a hip injury, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
Wilson played 16 snaps (11 offensive) during the Week 17 loss to New England but didn't record any offensive stats. It's unclear when he suffered the hip injury, but his lack of participation Wednesday is concerning. The reserve wideout will have two more opportunities to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against the Jets.
