Holding out from minicamp

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-06-04

Lamb is holding out from June minicamp in pursuit of a new contract, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Lamb didn't attend voluntary OTAs and now is missing the first mandatory activities of the offseason. David Helman of FOX Sports reports that the Cowboys can fine Lamb around $100,000 in the likely event he misses all three days of June minicamp, though the wideout presumably won't care much if it helps him secure a new contract. He's likely looking for a deal that's similar or slightly south of the four-year, $140 million extension that Vikings WR Justin Jefferson is signing this week. If nothing gets done before training camp, Lamb may well continue his holdout into August

Seeking new contract

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-04-15

Lamb is not expected to attend the start of Dallas' offseason workouts as he continues negotiations with the team on a contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Lamb is currently entering the final season of his rookie contract, which would see him earn roughly $18 million on the fifth-year option, but he's been clear about his desires to instead come to terms on a long-term deal to keep him with the Cowboys. Patrik Walker of the team's official site reports that Lamb recently responded to rumors of a potential holdout by saying he'll "be in Dallas" this season, though mandatory workouts won't begin until minicamp early June. DeVonta Smith, a 2021 first-round pick, is fresh off signing a three-year, $75 million extension including $51 million guaranteed with the Eagles, but Lamb's production could well warrant a top-of-the-market deal closer to $30 million per year.

May skip voluntary workouts

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-04-08

Lamb may be absent from the start of Cowboys offseason workouts April 15 as he seeks a new contract, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Lamb is currently scheduled to play out the 2024 season on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal, which would carry a $17.99 million salary. Skipping offseason workouts is one of Lamb's only bargaining chips if he seeks a contract extension immediately, other than attempting a more severe holdout. Attendance will be voluntary until Dallas' minicamp early June, and it remains to be seen whether Lamb would actually consider a holdout at that point. The 25-year-old solidified himself as one of the NFL's top wideouts with a 135-1,749-12 receiving line through 17 regular-season games in 2023, and a new contract could place him in the range of a $30 million per year salary, similar to Tyreek Hill's deal atop the WR market. That said, the Cowboys also have to navigate the contract situations of stars Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons.

Leading receiver in wild-card loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-14

Lamb caught nine of 17 targets for 110 yards in Sunday's 48-32 wild-card loss to the Packers.

The NFL's receptions leader in 2023 barely made an impact in the first half as Dak Prescott struggled to move the offense, but Lamb wound up topping the Cowboys in receiving yards with a big, if eventually futile, second half. The fourth-year wideout finishes the regular season with a 135-1,749-12 line on 181 targets while adding 113 rushing yards and two more touchdowns on 14 carries, and assuming Prescott returns to Dallas, Lamb figures to come off the board very quickly in 2024 fantasy drafts.

Dazzles again in Week 18

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-07

Lamb caught all 13 of his targets for 98 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Commanders.

With the Cowboys needing a victory to secure an NFC East title and the No. seed in the playoffs, Dak Prescott leaned heavily on Lamb once again. The fourth-year wideout put a bow on his incredible campaign with a four-yard TD grab just before halftime and a six-yard score in the third quarter, and Lamb's 135 catches on the season not only set a new franchise record, they made him the first player in Dallas history to lead the NFL in the category. If the Bills' secondary shuts down Tyreek Hill on Sunday night, Lamb's 1,749 receiving yards could also end up leading the league. He'll roll into the postseason with a juicy matchup on tap in the wild-card round against a Packers secondary that struggled badly at times down the stretch.

Career-high 227 yards

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-30

Lamb recorded 13 catches on 17 targets for 227 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's 20-19 win over the Lions.

The Lions picked off Lamb's first target, which was the only disappointing part of his performance on the night. One possession later, he beat the Detroit secondary deep for a 92-yard touchdown on the way to a career-best 227-yard performance. Lamb also chipped in other big plays of 31 and 22 yards, marking the first time he's recorded three receptions of at least 20 yards since Week 10. He also set the Cowboys' single-season record for both receptions and yards with the performance.

Big fantasy game despite loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-24

Lamb finished with six receptions on 10 targets for 118 yards and a touchdown while adding 14 rushing yards on two attempts in Sunday's 22-20 loss to the Dolphins.

Lamb did all the heavy lifting for the Cowboys' offense Sunday, finishing as the team's leading receiver in every category while also chipping in 14 rushing yards to help a struggling rushing attack. All of this was not enough to lift Dallas past Miami, who won Sunday's contest on a last-second FG from Jason Sanders. Lamb extended his impressive touchdown streak to seven games, and he is just one receiving touchdown away from setting a new personal career best. The superstar wideout will shoot for his 10th receiving touchdown when the Cowboys host the Lions on Saturday.

Saves day with garbage-time score

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-17

Lamb recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Bills. He added one rush for three yards and a touchdown.

The Cowboys' offense disappeared for much of the game, so this was a forgettable performance for Lamb. However, he managed to turn in a respectable stat line thanks to a garbage-time drive late in the fourth quarter, during which he recorded three receptions for 15 yards and also tallied his rushing score. Positively, Lamb extended his touchdown streak to six games, and he has nine scores across his last eight games. He should be in a good position to bounce back in Week 16 in a potential shootout against the Dolphins.

Extends TD streak to five games

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-10

Lamb had six receptions on 10 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-13 win over Philadelphia.

Lamb was able to extend his active touchdown streak to five games after capping the game's opening drive with a 13-yard grab. The superstar's recent scoring binge brings him up to nine total touchdowns (one rushing) through 13 games, tying his previous high from last season when he caught nine touchdowns over 17 active games. Lamb is also 11 receptions off of the career mark of 107 he set in 2022, a single-total he has already reached five times this year. He will shoot for a sixth in a road matchup against the Bills next Sunday.
