Cut by Las Vegas

The Raiders waived Fotheringham on Tuesday, per the team's official site.

Fotheringham signed a reserve/future contract with Las Vegas in January and was vying for a depth role at tight end on the team's roster, but he didn't make the cut. The 26-year-old had a decent performance during the exhibition slate, catching three of four targets for 31 yards. Fotheringham got into two regular-season contests with the Raiders last year, catching his only target for six yards.

Active for OTAs

Fotheringham (hamstring) has been active for the Raiders' OTA sessions.

Fotheringham suffered a hamstring injury in the team's Week 17 matchup with the Colts before signing a reserve/future contract with the Raiders in January. He now looks to be a full go ahead of the 2024 campaign after he appeared in two contests with Las Vegas last season, reeling in his only target for six yards while playing 21 offensive snaps. The 26-year-old will attempt to carve out a reserve role for himself behind Michael Mayer and Brock Bowers at tight end this year.

Sticking with Las Vegas

The Raiders signed Fotheringham to a reserve/future contract Monday.

Fotheringham joined the Raiders' practice squad Aug. 30 after failing to make the 53-man roster cut after training camp. He was elevated twice late in the season and had one catch for six yards over 21 offensive snaps. Fotheringham sustained a hamstring injury in Week 17 against the Colts, and the Raiders placed him their practice squad injured reserve list Jan. 2. He'll spend the offseason rehabbing and will have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot come training camp.

Going to practice squad IL

Las Vegas placed Fotheringham (hamstring) on its practice squad injured list Tuesday.

With the Raiders mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, the transaction will end Fotheringham's season. Over two games this year, he logged 21 total offensive snaps, turning his only target into a catch for six yards.

Heads back to practice squad

The Raiders reverted Fotheringham (hamstring) to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Fotheringham played five snaps in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Colts. He left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return to the game. As long as the injury isn't severe, he is eligible to be called up for the Raiders' regular-season finale against the Chiefs on Jan. 7.

Questionable to return

Fotheringham (hamstring) is considered questionable to return to Sunday's game in Indianapolis.

The severity of Fotheringham's hamstring injury is unknown at this time. He had not recorded any stats prior to exiting the game. If he is unable to return, Austin Hooper would be the lone healthy tight endon the Raiders' roster.

Back with active roster

The Raiders elevated Fotheringham to their active roster Saturday.

With both Michael Mayer (toe) and Jesper Horsted (hamstring) missing Sunday's affair, Fotheringham has been elevated to Las Vegas' active roster to ensure some extra depth at tight end. The 26-year-old is coming off his NFL debut in Week 16, where he caught his only target for six yards and played 27 total snaps (19 offensive and 8 on special teams).

Returns to practice squad

The Raiders reverted Fotheringham to their practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.

With primary tight end Michael Mayer (toe) unable to play Monday against Kansas City, Las Vegas elevated Fotheringham from the practice squad for the first time in his career. In his initial tase of NFL regular-season action, the Utah product played 19 offensive snaps and eight special-teams snaps, catching his only target for a six-yard gain. Whether Fotheringham gets elevated again this week likely depends on Mayer's ability (or inability) to suit up.
