Hayes was set to miss the 2023 season after reverting to the 49ers' injured reserve list on Aug. 13. Now that a settlement has been reached, Hayes can seek opportunities elsewhere once he recovers from his injury.

Hayes was cut Saturday to make room on the roster for cornerback Nate Brooks. The 25-year-old linebacker battled injuries the entirety of his career, and as a result he's seen the field once the past two years. Hayes was originally selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft but was later cut for a similar reason to now.

Less than one week after getting waived by the Ravens, Hayes has found a new opportunity in San Francisco. He missed the entire 2022 season due to an undisclosed reason, so the 2021 fifth-round pick is looking to make up for lost time. He will compete for a depth linebacker role with the 49ers.
