King recorded 10 tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 22-17 win versus the Broncos.

King also logged seven punt return yards in Week 13. Sunday's was the first game of the season in which he played more than one defensive snap (41), and he made an emphatic case to keep his new expanded role, leading Houston in tackles. He's projected to serve as the Texans' primary nickelback for the home stretch of the year.

King will become the Texans' primary nickel back beginning Sunday against the Broncos, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

King returned to Houston on Nov. 20 after being let go by the Steelers. The Iowa product will now step into a significant role with the departure of Shaquill Griffin, who was waived Wednesday. King started 25 of 33 games for the Texans between 2021 and 2022 and recorded 182 tackles, 14 passes defended and five interceptions.

Joining active roster

King was signed to Houston's active roster from their practice squad Wednesday.

King signed with the Texans' practice squad last week and will now be bumped up to the active roster. The 28-year-old should help fill the void left by Shaquill Griffin's departure, as he was released earlier Wednesday.

Returning to Houston

King signed with the Texans' practice squad Monday.

King will now return to Houston where he played in 33 games over the past two seasons. The 2017 fifth-round pick could provide the team solid depth in the secondary if he's called up for a game.

Let go by Pittsburgh

The Steelers released King on Wednesday.

King will head to free agency after playing just one defensive snap and failing to record any stats in three games for the Steelers. The 28-year-old had just signed with the team back in August and will now look for another opportunity elsewhere.

Picked up by Pittsburgh

King signed with the Steelers on Thursday, Chris Adamski of triblive.com reports.

King started 13 of 17 games for the Texans in 2022 and has appeared in 95 games over six NFL seasons. The veteran cornerback will provide depth at cornerback for the Steelers, as well as give them a return option.

Makes six stops in finale

King recorded six tackles and returned one punt for 16 yards in a 32-31 victory over the Colts in Week 18.

King ranked fourth with 89 tackles and tied for the lead with 10 for a loss this season. The six-year veteran has put together two consecutive strong seasons for the Texans, including five interceptions over that span. King averaged 9.4 punt return yards on 33 chances and returned one kickoff for 50 yards. He has one year left on his deal and should be part of the Texans' secondary in 2023.

Grabs interception in blowout loss

King recorded eight tackles (six solo) and one interception during Sunday's 31-3 loss to the Jaguars.

King logged his second pick of the season when he made a diving interception on an underthrown pass from Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the second quarter. This was also the sixth-year cornerback's first pass defended since Week 5, though he's still tied with safety Jalen Pitre for the Texans' most passes defended this season with eight. King should continue to serve as one of the team's top cornerbacks alongside Steven Nelson in Week 18 against Tennessee.
