Spencer (undisclosed) was waived by the Jets from injured reserve with an injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Spencer was placed on injured reserve last week, which would have meant he would have to miss the entire 2023 season. Now that he's been let go with an injury settlement, Spencer has a chance to crack a roster spot elsewhere when fully healthy.

Lands on injured reserve

The Jets placed Spencer on injured reserve Wednesday due to an undisclosed injury, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The severity of the injury remains unclear, but Spencer will now have to miss the entire 2023 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with the Jets. The undrafted product out of McNeese State bounced on and off the Jets' practice squad last year and primarily operated as a return man during his first three NFL seasons in Denver.

Inks future deal

The Jets signed Spencer to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.

Spencer bounced on and off the Jets' practice squad all year, but he was never elevated to the active roster. With his new contract, the fourth-year return man will stick with New York and have a chance to compete for a larger role next season.
