Recovering from finger surgery

The procedure was described as "nothing major" and "a little cleanup," and there have been no reported setbacks in Greenlaw's recovery. Once he can return to the field, Greenlaw will need to adjust to new defensive coordinator Steve Wilks' scheme, and he hopes to be able to rush the quarterback more often.

Greenlaw was sidelined for the 49ers' regular-season finale against Arizona due to a back injury sustained Week 17. However, he was able to return to practice in full Thursday after logging back-to-back limited practices earlier in the week, and San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said the linebacker will be a "full go" for Saturday's wild-card game against Seattle, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. Greenlaw has amassed a career-high 127 tackles, six passes defended, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries this season, and he'll continue to form one of the league's best linebacker duos alongside Fred Warner heading into the playoffs.

However, his ability to practice -- albeit in limited fashion -- both Tuesday and Wednesday suggests that he has a chance to participate in Saturday's wild-card contest versus the Seahawks. That would be a big boost to the 49ers' defense, as Greenlaw ranked second on the team with 127 tackles while adding an interception and two forced fumbles during 15 regular-season games.
