Quiet year besides Week 10

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-23

Brown caught 12 of 23 targets for 168 yards and a touchdown in 17 games during the 2023 season.

The 2021 third-round pick had a quiet year apart from his 35-yard, game-tying touchdown in the final minute of an eventual loss to the Seahawks on Nov. 12. Brown had just two catches for seven yards the rest of the season and played more snaps on special teams than offense in each of Washington's final five games. He'll need to compete for a roster spot in 2024, the final year of his rookie contract.

Minimal role in loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-07

Brown didn't gain any yardage on his lone reception while playing 11 of the Commanders' 55 snaps on offense in Sunday's 45-15 loss to the Dolphins.

Brown hasn't been able to build on the 35-yard game-tying reception touchdown reception he provided in an eventual 29-26 loss to Seattle in Week 10. In the Commanders' ensuing three contests, Brown has hovered between snap shares of 20 and 25 percent while compiling a 2-7-0 receiving line on five targets. With Washington's receiving corps at full strength at the moment, Brown is unlikely to see his role increase coming out of the team's Week 14 bye.

Held to one catch

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-20

Brown caught one of three targets for seven yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants.

An early ejection for Curtis Samuel didn't have much impact on Brown's playing time, as Byron Pringle and Jamison Crowder also took on some of the responsibilities of the No. 3 WR role. There's not much fantasy potential in an offense where even the top two wideouts -- Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson -- are struggling to produce.

Scores game-tying TD

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-14

Brown caught both of his targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-26 loss at Seattle.

Brown played only 18 percent of snaps with Curtis Samuel returning from a toe/foot injury, but one of those plays was a 35-yard, game-tying TD with less than a minute remaining. The Seahawks responded with a field goal shortly thereafter, and Brown likely is looking at a depth role again Week 11 against the Giants.

Puts up 33 yards

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-06

Brown caught two of four targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Patriots.

Brown took advantage of a small bump in playing time with Curtis Samuel (foot) inactive, though Jamison Crowder was the primary replacement in the slot and got 14 more snaps than Brown (37-23). Brown and Byron Pringle should continue rotating in Week 10 at Seattle, but neither is likely to see more than three or four targets.

Goes without catch in Week 6

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-10-17

Brown failed to reel in his lone target across 11 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-16 win over Atlanta.

Brown's 11 snaps tied his lowest total of the season. As the No. 4 receiver on the Washington depth chart, Brown will have a limited role on offense so long as all of Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel are healthy.

Catches one pass

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-10-09

Brown caught one of three targets for 11 yards in Thursday's 40-20 loss to the Bears.

Brown has played between 22 and 32 percent of Washington's snaps on offense each week this season, operating as the No. 4 receiver and mostly seeing looks downfield (15.0 aDOT). He could get more work in the future if Jahan Dotson continues struggling, but there's probably not upside beyond two or three targets per week unless Dotson, Terry McLaurin or Curtis Samuel misses time with an injury. Next up is a Week 6 road game in Atlanta.

Two grabs in loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-10-04

Brown secured two of this three targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Eagles.

Brown operated as the Commanders' No. 4 receiver Sunday, playing 25 of the team's 78 offensive snaps. Despite his limited opportunities, the veteran wideout was able to record his highest yardage total of the season so far. Even so, Brown is extremely difficult to trust for consistent fantasy production playing behind fellow pass catchers Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel and Logan Thomas in Washington's passing attack. The Commanders will host the Bears in Week 5.

No catches

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-09-25

Brown was held without a catch on one target in Sunday's 37-3 loss to the Bills.

The new Washington offense hasn't even been fruitful for the team's top three wide receivers, and Brown has caught only three passes in three weeks coming off the bench as the No. 4. He'll likely handle the same role Week 4 at Philadelphia.
