Two grabs in loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-19

St. Brown caught two passes for 19 yards in the Bears' 31-26 loss to the Lions on Sunday.

The two targets St. Brown received represented the first time in four game he had more than a single target. Unless his role in the offense changes, he'll be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups.

Targeted once in return

St. Brown caught a four-yard pass in the Bears' 16-13 win over the Panthers on Thursday.

St. Brown played 39 percent of the snaps after missing four weeks with a hamstring injury. Often used as a blocking receiver, the veteran has been targeted once in each game he's played, and it's unlikely his role will change going forward.

Active Thursday

St. Brown (hamstring) is active for Thursday night's game against the Panthers.

The wide receiver was activated off injured reserve earlier in the day and listed as questionable. St. Brown spent the previous four weeks on IR with a hamstring injury. The sixth-year pro has one catch for 21 yards this season.

Activated off IR

St. Brown (hamstring) was activated off injured reserve and is listed as questionable ahead of Thursday night's game against the Panthers, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports.

The 27-year-old wideout has spent the last four weeks on IR with a hamstring issue, but he's got a chance to play Thursday night after being activated to the team's active roster. St. Brown recorded one catch for 21 yards through two games thus far, and he could very well be Chicago's No. 3 wide receiver once he returns to the field.

Deemed questionable

St. Brown (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against Carolina.

The Bears designated him to return from injured reserve Monday and will need to activate St. Brown by Thursday afternoon in order to have him available Thursday night. The team listed him as a full practice participant Monday through Wednesday, suggesting he'll at least be ready by Week 11 if not by Thursday night. It's unclear if St. Brown eventually will return to the No. 3 WR role he occupied at times earlier this season, as the Bears have been using rookie Tyler Scott there of late.

Cleared to practice

St. Brown (hamstring) has been designated to return from IR by the Bears.

This move opens a 21-day window in which Chicago can evaluate St. Brown at practice. Once they feel his health and preparation is up to par, he will be activated from IR. When that indeed occurs, he will have the opportunity to compete with the likes of Tyler Scott, Velus Jones and Trent Taylor for receiving reps behind DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney.

Moves to injured reserve

The Bears placed St. Brown (hamstring) on injured reserve Friday.

St. Brown was inactive for the Bears' first three games of the season before stepping in as the team's No. 3 wideout beginning Week 4, when Chase Claypool was a healthy scratch and then traded to Miami the following week. The 27-year-old played 65 total snaps on offense in the Bears' last two games, but he wasn't especially involved in the passing game, drawing just two targets. With St. Brown now set to miss at least the next four games while recovering from the hamstring injury, rookie Tyler Scott will likely be next in line to get a look as the No. 3 option behind DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney.

Ruled out for Week 6

St. Brown (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

St. Brown was unable to practice at all during the week after hurting his hamstring in last Thursday's win over Washington. Tyler Scott, Velus Jones or Trent Taylor could see more opportunities behind DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney in Chicago's receiving corps Sunday, while St. Brown will set his sights on returning in Week 7 against the Raiders.

Misses another practice

St. Brown (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday.

Despite having added time to heal up from the hamstring injury after the Bears played the Commanders on Thursday night last week, St. Brown has failed to practice in both of Chicago's first two Week 6 sessions. If St. Brown is unable to practice Friday and is ultimately ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings, rookie Tyler Scott would likely step in as the Bears' No. 3 receiver.
