Won't be at voluntary workouts
Engram is not in line to participate in the initial stage of the Jaguars' voluntary offseason workout program, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
At this stage, the tight end has yet to sign his franchise tag with Jacksonville, with the two sides having until July 17 to potentially come to terms on a contract extension, something that GM Trent Baalke has noted that he hopes to see occur. If not, assuming Engram signs his franchise tender with the Jaguars, the 2017 first-rounder would be in line to earn $11.35 million in 2023. The 28-year-old is coming off a 2022 campaign (his first with the team) in which he caught a career-high 73 passes for 766 yards and four TDs in 17 games.

Gets franchise tag from Jaguars
The Jaguars have assigned the franchise tag to Engram, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
This was already the expectation, but it's now slated to occur after the sides were unable to come to an agreement on a long-term deal ahead of Tuesday's tagging deadline. They'll now have until mid-July to keep discussing a deal. Engram had a career year in Jacksonville last season with 73 catches for 766 yards and four touchdowns.
Expected to get franchise tag
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Jaguars are expected to assign the franchise tag to Engram.
Jaguars GM Trent Baalke said earlier in the week that Engram was going to be back with the team in 2023, whether it was via the franchise tag or on a long-term deal. The tag gives the Jaguars more time to talk with Engram's camp to hammer out an extension. If Engram plays on the tag, it will pay him a guaranteed $11.345 million.
Held in check
Engram recorded five receptions on six targets for 31 yards in Saturday's 27-20 loss to the Chiefs.
Engram remained heavily involved in the Jaguars' offense, and he closed the season with at least six targets in five of his last eight games. He didn't do much with his opportunity in Saturday's loss, though he did manage receptions of 16 and 10 yards. Engram recorded a career-best 73 receptions and 766 yards across 17 games in the regular season, and that should help him land a fairly substantial deal in free agency this offseason.
Paces Jags in receiving yards
Engram recorded seven receptions on 11 targets for 93 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 31-30 wild-card round win over the Chargers.
Engram racked up double-digit targets for the third time in his last six games and took advantage to put up big gains of 24, 21 and 16 yards. He also began Jacksonville's comeback effort with a nine-yard touchdown catch just before halftime. Engram has been a boom-bust option of late -- he's topped 100 yards in three of his last six games but has under 30 yards twice in that span -- but the Jaguars' offense will likely have to take to the air often with likely potential matchups against the Chiefs or Bills in the AFC divisional round.
Bounces back with four catches
Engram caught all four passes for 27 yards during Saturday's 20-16 win against the Titans.
After managing just one reception during a Week 17 win at Houston, Engram bounced back somewhat in a regular-season finale in which quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 212 yards. With the help of two 100-yard performances Weeks 14 and 16, Engram also ended the campaign with career bests in catches (73) and receiving yards (766). The Jaguars clinched the AFC South with this Week 18 win, so he and his teammates will focus on hosting a wild-card round matchup next Saturday, Sunday or Monday.
Quiet in Week 17
Engram caught one pass for 16 yards on two targets against Houston on Sunday. He also rushed once for 13 yards.
Engram was red-hot going into Sunday's game, but the Jaguars passing game was mostly dormant in the 31-3 blowout victory. Jacksonville didn't have much reason to display its full playbook against a toothless opponent in a meaningless game, so perhaps Engram can get cooking again when the Jaguars face Tennessee for the AFC South title in Week 18.
