Signs one-year deal with Vegas

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-03-13

Bryant has agreed to a one-year, $3.25 million contract with the Raiders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Bryant is slated to replace Austin Hooper as the the veteran backup to 2023 second-round draft pick Michael Mayer (toe) in Vegas. After exceeding 200 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons, Bryant had just 81 yards with the Browns in the 2023 regular season despite suiting up for all 17 games. He can make up to $4 million in 2024 with incentives.

Saves best game for playoffs

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-14

Bryant caught four of six targets for 64 yards in Saturday's 45-14 wild-card playoff loss to Houston.

Bryant had his best game of the season in the playoff loss, nearly equaling the receiving yards he had in 17 regular season games. The tight end recorded 13 catches on 20 targets for 81 yards and three touchdowns in 2023. This was the season that starter David Njoku made an evolutionary leap, which rendered Bryant to career lows in catches, targets and yards while fighting for tight end scraps with Jordan Akins. Bryant enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, but his organizational and system knowledge could be useful to a team that is still in its competitive window.

Likely to start Week 18

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-07

Bryant was spotted warming up as Cleveland's starting tight end ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Though top tight end David Njoku is active for the contest, he and several other Browns starters are expected to be rested for all or most of the Week 18 contest while Cleveland is already locked in as the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs. Given that Njoku wasn't warming up with the first-team offense, he looks like he's being viewed as more of an emergency option Sunday while Bryant and Jordan Akins play nearly all the snaps at tight end. Through 16 games this season, Bryant has recorded 13 catches for 81 yards and three touchdowns on 20 targets.

Finds end zone in Week 13 loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-03

Bryant caught all five of his targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Rams.

Joe Flacco leaned heavily on his tight ends in his first start of the season, but surprisingly it was Bryant who the veteran QB showed the most chemistry with and not David Njoku, who caught only two of six targets for 17 yards. Bryant set new season highs in catches, yards and targets Sunday and has found the end zone in back-to-back games, and if Flacco gets another start in Week 14 against the Jaguars, the fourth-year TE will be an intriguing fantasy option.

Scores second TD

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-27

Bryant caught his lone target for a two-yard touchdown in Sunday's 29-12 loss to Denver in Week 12.

Bryant lined up in the backfield and found his way to an open space at the goal line to haul in quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson's (concussion) first career touchdown pass. It was Bryant's second touchdown of the season and first since Week 1. He's taken a serious step back behind David Njoku at tight end and has just 10 targets through 11 games. Bryant's knowledge of the system, however, keeps him relevant, and the Browns have used him in unique ways. Bryant's been used as a runner and wildcat quarterback, although he fumbled a snap as the quarterback in Sunday's loss.

Suiting up Sunday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-10-22

Bryant (hip) is active for Sunday's game against the Bears.

Bryant was never able to put in a full practice this week while managing the hip issue, but the Browns saw enough from him to give him the green light for Sunday. He'll likely continue to share backup tight end duties with Jordan Akins, with both players having logged double-digit snaps on offense behind starter David Njoku in three of the Browns' first five games of the season.

Likely to play Sunday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-10-22

Bryant (hip) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Colts, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Bryant is officially listed as questionable for the contest after he sat out Wednesday's practice due to the hip injury before returning to the field as a limited participant Thursday and Friday. Assuming he's cleared in advance of Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, Bryant should step back in as the Browns' No. 2 tight end behind starter David Njoku.

Questionable for Sunday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-10-20

Bryant (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Indianapolis, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Bryant was active for Week 6 versus San Francisco, but he'll go into the new weekend with a questionable tag. If he can't play in Week 7, Jordan Akins will probably see an uptick in snaps.

Gets in limited practice

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-10-19

Bryant (hip) was a limited participant at practice Thursday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Bryant missed practice entirely Wednesday and took a positive step forward by managing limited participation Thursday. If he can practice in full Friday, he would likely avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.
