Hodgins agreed to a contract with the Giants on Thursday.

Hodgins has spent the majority of the last two seasons with the Giants and had flashes of productivity late in the 2022 campaign. New York didn't tender him a contract as a restricted free agent, but the sides have agreed to new terms. The addition of Isaiah McKenzie this offseason could push Hodgins further down the wide receiver depth chart, and the team is also rumored to be interested in some of the top pass catchers in this year's draft class. Given that, Hodgins' role with the Giants is currently unclear.

Hitting open market

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-03-13

Hodgins will be an unrestricted free agent after the Giants opted against tendering him, Jordan Raanan of reports.

Hodgins caught on with the Bills as an undrafted rookie in 2021 before making his way to the Giants midway through 2022. He had at least 29 yards in each of his eight games for the Giants that year, including five starts, but then managed just 230 yards over 17 games and 511 snaps in 2023. The 25-year-old should get some interest as a depth WR on the open market.

Falls back to depth role in 2023

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-10

Hodgins finished the regular season with 21 catches on 33 targets for 230 yards and three touchdowns over 17 games.

After ascending to a role near the front of New York's wide-receiver room during a strong finish to the 2022 campaign, Hodgins came into this season slated to be one of the team's top wideouts. However, he struggled to make an impact, topping out at four catches and 40 yards (both in Week 2 against Arizona). By Week 4, Hodgins had been surpassed on the depth chart by other options, and he logged less than half of the team's offensive snaps in six of his final seven contests. The Giants' paltry passing game had a part to play in Hodgins' decreased output, but it was also evident that the wideout isn't likely to be a difference-maker in an NFL offense. Hodgins is set to be a restricted free agent, and it's far from a certainty that he'll be tendered.

Finishes without target Monday

Hodgins was not targeted in the Giants' Week 17 loss to the Eagles on Monday.

For the second straight week, Hodgins completed a game without logging any receptions. He received one target last Sunday versus New Orleans before being shut out entirely against Philadelphia. Hodgins came down with an illness over the weekend that may have impacted his production Monday, but even when healthy this season he's failed to make a meaningful impact. Hodgins hasn't had more than three catches or 24 receiving yards in a game since Week 2, and he's been held without a reception seven times over 13 contests during that span.

Will play Monday

Hodgins (illness) is active Monday against the Eagles, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Hodgins fell ill Sunday, prompting his late addition to the team's injury report a day ahead of their Week 16 divisional clash. However, the 25-year-old has made enough progress in the last 24 hours that he'll take the field and work to contribute in the passing game from the lower end of the Giants' wide receiver depth chart.

Falls ill, iffy to play Monday

The Giants added Hodgins to their Week 16 injury report and list him as questionable for Monday's game against the Eagles due to an illness, Jordan Raanan of reports.

Hodgins will look to rest up and recover from the ailment Sunday before the Giants reassess Monday whether he'll be in condition to play against the Eagles. The 25-year-old receiver ended the 2022 campaign as a starter for the Giants, but he's dropped a couple rungs down the depth chart in 2023 and has been limited to 17 catches for 176 yards and three touchdowns on 28 targets through New York's first 14 games of the season.

Scores TD on two catches

Hodgins brought in both his targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Giants' 24-22 win over the Packers on Monday night.

Hodgins was a distant second to Wan'Dale Robinson in receiving yards, but he did find the end zone on an eight-yard scoring grab late in the third quarter. The fourth-year's third touchdown of the season notwithstanding, Hodgins continues to flash a very low floor, as he hasn't surpassed three receptions or 24 receiving yards in any of the last 11 contests.

Turns lone target into TD

Hodgins caught his only target for a 12-yard touchdown in Sunday's Week 12 10-7 victory over the Patriots.

Hodgins once again saw limited opportunities in the offense, but he made the most of his lone target by hauling in a 12-yard pass from Tommy DeVito for New York's only touchdown of the contest in the second quarter. The score was just his second of the season, with his other TD coming in Week 2 versus Arizona. Hodgins emerged as a top option for Daniel Jones (knee) late last season, but he's failed to click with any of the Giants' quarterbacks this year. Including Sunday, Hodgins has notched just five receptions for 47 yards over his past seven games.

Gets season-low snap count

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-10-18

Hodgins went without a target while playing 18 of the Giants' 77 snaps on offense in Sunday's 14-9 loss to the Bills.

Though Hodgins was credited with a start after opening the game on the field for the Giants' first possession, he ultimately finished fourth among New York receivers in terms of playing time. With snap shares of 40 percent or lower in three consecutive games, Hodgins appears to have moved into more of a depth role while rookie third-round pick Jalin Hyatt has been seeing more work at his expense.
