Rodgers (suspension) signed with the Eagles on Monday, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.
Rodgers is suspended for the 2023 season for gambling on NFL games, including bets placed on his own team. Prior to the suspension, he was expected to take on a starting cornerback role for Indianapolis. The Eagles have clearly made this signing with their eyes on the future, as the 25-year-old will likely have an impact right away in 2024. Until then, he will spend the 2023 season on the reserve/suspension list.

Cut following gambling ban

The Colts waived Rodgers on Thursday.
On Thursday, Rodgers was officially suspended indefinitely for gambling on NFL games, including bets placed on his own team, and the Colts apparently were ready to cut him once the yearlong ban was announced by the league. The 25-year-old was initially expected to take over as a starting cornerback in Indy this year, but his career is now hanging in the balance. We won't see Rodgers again until at least the 2024 season. Rodgers started nine games on defense last season and has played close to 1,000 snaps over the last two years.

Rodgers has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL -- through at least the 2023 season -- for betting on NFL games last season, ESPN reports.
Rodgers made upwards of 100 bets on NFL games, including one on the Colts, according to the ESPN report. Rodgers acknowledged the violations earlier this month on a social media post where he said he made an error in judgement. The 25-year-old, who is recovering from a knee injury sustained back in December, looked primed for a starting cornerback role following Indianapolis' offseason trade of Stephon Gilmore to Dallas.

Rodgers' suspension hasn't yet been officially confirmed, but it appears that he's in danger of missing the entire 2023 campaign. The details surrounding his alleged violation of the league's gambling policy, and the other players involved, haven't yet been revealed. The 25-year-old, who is recovering from a knee injury sustained back in December, looked primed for a starting cornerback role following Indianapolis' offseason trade of Stephon Gilmore to Dallas. Now, however, it looks like rookie second-round pick Julius Brents (wrist) may need to step up for a notable role once back to full health himself.

The NFL is investigating Rodgers for possible violations of the league's gambling policy, ESPN reports. "I made an error in judgment and I am going to work hard to make sure that those mistakes are rectified through this process," Rodgers said via Twitter. Rodgers was also working his way back from a late 2022 season knee injury.
Rodgers could face a lengthy suspension as a result, but details of his exact violation are not clear. He had been a leading candidate for a starting cornerback role after the trade of Stephon Gilmore to Dallas.
