Starting year on PUP list

The Chargers placed Guyton (knee) no the reserve/PUP list Tuesday.

Guyton won't be eligible to return until after the first four games of the regular season have concluded, though his shift to the reserve/PUP list was expected. The Chargers have little incentive to rush Guyton's recovery along, as the team can rely on all of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Joshua Palmer and Quentin Johnston to headline Justin Herbert's WR corps.

Likely headed to reserve/PUP list

Guyton (knee) is expected to begin the season on the reserve/PUP list, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Guyton, who tore his ACL in Week 3 of last season, has been on the active/PUP list, but once a move is made to shift the wideout to the reserve/PUP list, he'll be in line to miss at least the first four games of the coming campaign. As roster cut-downs approach, the Chargers' WR corps is led by Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Joshua Palmer and Quentin Johnston.

Lands on PUP list

Guyton (knee) was placed on theactive/PUP list by the Chargers on Tuesday.

Guyton tore his ACL in Week 3 of last season and won't participate in the initial stages of training camp. He can, however, be activated from the list in the coming days and weeks and if/when that occurs, the 26-year-old will look to cement a depth role in a Chargers wideout corps that is led by Keenan Allen and Mike Williams and also features Joshua Palmer as well as 2023 first-rounder Quentin Johnston.

Re-signs with Los Angeles

The Chargers re-signed Guyton on Monday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Guyton tore his ACL in Week 3 of last season but is on the field for the start of offseason workouts Monday, according to Popper. He wasn't tendered an offer as a restricted free agent earlier this offseason but now is back at a cheaper rate. Guyton has speed to burn as a deep threat, but the Chargers really need to focus on upgrading their wideout room in the NFL Draft later this month.

Headed for free agency

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-03-15

The Chargers didn't extend Guyton (knee) a qualifying offer or contract tender as a restricted free agent Wednesday, so he's officially an unrestricted free agent, per the NFL's transaction log.

Guyton is currently rehabbing from an ACL tear he suffered during Week 3 of 2022 campaign, and it's unclear when he'll be 100 percent healthy. The undrafted wideout out of North Texas caught 59 of 103 targets for 959 yards and six touchdowns across his first two NFL seasons in Los Angeles, but he'll likely have to prove he's back to full strength before securing a new deal.
