Won't suit up at Buffalo

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-31

Hasty (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game at Buffalo.

The Patriots will enter Sunday's matchup against the Bills with just two healthy running backs: Ezekiel Elliott and Kevin Harris. Hasty has played exclusively on special teams over the last two weeks, so New England will have to try to find a way to replace his production in that phase.

Inactive Thursday

Hasty (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Steelers, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.

Hasty appeared to have a chance to play with Rhamondre Stevenson out with an ankle injury, but instead he is a healthy scratch for the second week in a row. The running back signed with New England in Week 13 after being let go by the Jaguars on Nov. 11. The fourth-year pro did not carry the ball on six offensive snaps with Jacksonville.

Could be active in Week 14

Hasty may be asked to appear in Thursday's matchup with the Steelers, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official website reports.

Hasty was a healthy scratch in Week 13 against the Chargers after he signed with the team earlier in the week, but he could be asked to play versus Pittsburgh after Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) was officially ruled out for the contest Wednesday. Hasty appeared in three games with Jacksonville before the team let him go Nov. 11, failing to garner a carry while playing six offensive snaps.

Healthy inactive

Hasty (coach's decision) will not play in Sunday's matchup with the Giants.

Hasty will be a healthy scratch in his first game with the Patriots since being claimed off waivers from the Jaguars. This is not surprising, as Rhamondre Stevenson, Ezekiel Elliott and Ty Montgomery are all healthy. Hasty's next chance to suit up will come in one week versus the Chargers.

Claimed by New England

The Patriots claimed Hasty off waivers from the Jaguars Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Hasty was waived by Jacksonville over the weekend after playing just six offensive snaps behind Travis Etienne and rookie Tank Bigsby. In New England, Hasty will try to carve out a role on special teams and as a depth running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson and Ezekiel Elliott.

Let go by Jags

Hasty was waived by the Jaguars on Saturday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Hasty saw the field in three games for Jacksonville across the first nine weeks, but only played a total of 15 snaps between offense and special teams. He failed to record a catch on either of his two targets. Assuming he clears waivers, the running back will be a candidate to land back on the Jags' practice squad.

Won't play Sunday

Hasty (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Colts.

Hasty played 15 snaps over the last two games, six on offense and nine on special teams. He did not record a stat in either contest and will be a healthy scratch for Week 6.

Inactive Week 1

Hasty (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts, John Shipley of reports.

Hasty served as Jacksonville's No. 2 running back for most of the 2022 campaign and totaled 320 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on 66 touches, but he's No. 4 on the depth chart to open this season. Rookie third-round Tank Bigsby and free-agent signing D'Ernest Johnson will serve as the backups to starting tailback Travis Etienne in the season opener at Indianapolis.

Five touches in preseason debut

Hasty carried the ball four times for eight yards in Saturday's 25-7 preseason win over the Lions. He added one reception on two targets for four yards.

Hasty took the field for game action for the first time in 2023, and he was the second back to check in following Tank Bigsby. He found running room hard to come by, though his usage was the more important takeaway as he looks to be third in line for touches -- also behind Travis Etienne. Hasty has tallied 43 combined receptions across the last two seasons, and he may be limited primarily to passing downs in the upcoming campaign.
