Jones and the Patriots agreed Monday on a two-year contract, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
After the Patriots decided not to franchise tag Jones last week, the team moved to to keep Jones in town for at least a couple more campaigns. The 29-year-old played in 16 games last season, recording a career-high four interceptions, 11 pass deflections and three forced fumbles while also recording 69 tackles. Jones has quickly blossomed into being one of the league's best at his position, prompting the Patriots to secure him moving forward.

New England will not apply the franchise tag to Jones ahead of Tuesday's deadline, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Jones put together a career year in 2022, as he led the Patriots in interceptions (four), pass deflections (11) and forced fumbles (three) while racking up 69 tackles (56 solo). The 29-year-old undrafted player has proven his ability to handle an every-down role at cornerback at a high level, which sets him up to earn a sizeable contract on the open market, though New England reportedly still has interest in re-signing him.

Good to go Sunday

Jones (chest) is active for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Jones logged a trio of capped practices earlier this week as a result of an apparent chest injury, but it's since been revealed that he'll suit up and command his usual every-down cornerback role in Week 18 versus Buffalo. The 29-year-old currently needs 11 more tackles to tie his previous career high in that department.
Could miss Week 18

Jones (chest) is considered questionable to play Sunday against the Bills.
Jones popped up with a chest injury Wednesday that left him limited for each practice ahead of this crucial Week 18 matchup. The nature and severity of this issue are still unknown, so it will be worth monitoring his status on New England's final inactives list released 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 pm E.T. kickoff. With fellow starting cornerback Jalen Mills (groin) also questionable to play, the Patriots could once again have to rely on Marcus Jones and Myles Bryant to play significant roles against Buffalo's premier passing attack.
