Moves to IR, ending his season

The Panthers placed Mingo on injured reserve Tuesday due to a foot injury, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Mingo sat out Week 4 with a concussion, but he otherwise played in each of the Panthers' other 15 games, compiling a 43-418-0 line on 85 targets. The rookie second-round pick wasn't able to develop a consistent report with 2023 top overall pick Bryce Young, and Mingo now won't have another chance to suit up until next season after his placement on IR.

No yards Sunday

Mingo caught two of three targets but totaled zero yards in Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Jaguars.

Mingo has now gone for under 10 yards in consecutive games. That dry spell hurts his stock ahead of Sunday's season finale versus the Buccaneers, but the rookie did manage a career-best six catches for 69 yards against Tampa Bay earlier in the campaign.

Targeted once in loss

Mingo secured his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 33-30 loss to the Packers.

One week after leading the Panthers in receptions against the Falcons, Mingo was targeted just once Sunday. The rookie did, however, lead Carolina wide receivers in offensive snap share, playing 92 percent of snaps. In 14 appearances, Mingo has yet to find the end zone while recording 41 catches for 418 yards. The wideout will look to get more involved when the Panthers visit the Jaguars in Week 17.

Leads team in receptions during win

Mingo secured four of five targets for 32 yards in the Panthers' 9-7 win over the Falcons on Sunday.

Mingo led the Panthers in receptions while tying for second in receiving yardage and serving as the runner-up in targets. The rookie second-round pick is still in search of his first career touchdown, but Mingo now has at least four receptions in three of the past four games, which is what passes for reliable in a middling Bryce Young-led air attack.

Just 22 yards on nine targets

Mingo caught two of nine targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Saints.

Mingo led the Panthers in targets but didn't do much with the volume, though much of the blame lies with quarterback Bryce Young's inaccuracy. Young's frequent misfires included a deep ball on which Mingo got behind the coverage for what should have been a long touchdown late in the first half. Mingo has at least six targets in each of the last five games, but the 2023 second-round draft pick is still searching for his first NFL touchdown heading into a Week 15 clash with the Falcons.

Career-best performance Sunday

Mingo caught six of 10 targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Buccaneers.

The rookie wideout was the Panthers' leading receiver as he reached 60 yards for the third time in the last six games while setting new career highs in catches and targets. Mingo's been far from consistent -- in the other three games over that stretch, he managed just five catches for 31 yards total -- but it's encouraging that he saw significant volume in interim head coach Chris Tabor's first game in charge. Mingo's value appears to be on the upswing heading into a Week 14 clash with the Saints.

Cleared for Sunday

Mingo (Achilles) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

Mingo was added to the injury report Thursday as a limited participant with what now appears to be a minor Achilles issue. He returned to full participation Friday and figures to occupy his usual role as a starting wide receiver, hoping to build on the modest success of his 4-60-0 receiving line from Week 12 amidst what's otherwise been an unproductive and inefficient rookie season.

Dealing with Achilles issue

Mingo was limited at Thursday's practice due to an Achilles injury, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Mingo is making a sudden appearance on Carolina's Week 13 practice report, leaving his status up in the air ahead of Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not he goes into the weekend with a designation.

Paces Carolina's pass catchers

Mingo recorded four receptions on six targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Titans.

Mingo had one of his more productive games of the season, with the majority of his yardage coming on long receptions of 24 and 22 yards. That doubled his reception total of more than 20 yards this season and it also was the second time in his last five contests that he's reached 60 yards. Mingo may find it difficult to produce consistently given the quarterback play in Carolina, but he seems to be taking positive steps in the second half of his rookie campaign.
