Ali (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Ali suffered the injury toward the end of September and didn't make the trip to London with the team for Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. The 24-year-old will now miss at least the next four weeks and will be eligible to return Week 9 against the Vikings.

Officially ruled out for Week 4

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-09-29

Ali (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 4 game against the Jaguars, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.

This was already expected after it was reported Ali wouldn't travel with the team to London to face Jacksonville. Ali has yet to play in a game this season after being a healthy scratch each of the first three contests.

Won't travel to London

Ali (ankle) will not travel with the Falcons to London for Sunday's Week 4 game against the Jaguars, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Ali was downgraded to DNP Thursday and will stay back in Atlanta as his teammates travel across the Atlantic Ocean. The depth wideout has yet to be active for a game this season.

Takes step back

Ali (ankle) was a non-participant during practice Thursday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

Ali logged a limited practice Wednesday, but he seems to have taken a step back as the week moves closer to Sunday's game against the Jaguars. The Kentucky product has been a healthy scratch for all three contests this season, so even if he recovers in time for the game, it's not a certainty he'd suit up.

Limited Wednesday

Ali (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

A deep reserve in Atlanta's wideout corps, Ali has been inactive for all three games this season. He has played 14 offensive snaps across two career appearances, failing to catch his only target.

Inactive again

Ali (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Packers, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Ali, an undrafted rookie out of Kentucky, is a healthy scratch for a second straight game to open the season. The Falcons have just four wideouts available Sunday -- Drake London, Mack Hollins, Scotty Miller and KhaDarel Hodge.

Out for Week 1

Ali (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Ali, along with tight end John FitzPatrick (coach's decision) and running back Cordarrelle Patterson (thigh) are the skill players ruled out for Sunday's season opener. Atlanta will roll out a wide receiver corps of Drake London, Mack Hollins, Scotty Miller and KhaDarel Hodge.

Signs new deal with Atlanta

The Falcons signed Ali to a reserve/future contract Monday.

Ali was elevated ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale against the Buccaneers and played seven offensive snaps with zero catches on one target. The 6-foot wideout then reverted to the team's practice squad before inking this new deal with the team heading into the offseason, per the NFL's transaction log. Ali ended his season-long stint on the Falcons' practice squad with back-to-back elevations over the final two weeks of the regular season, and he'll now compete for a spot on the active roster this offseason.

Elevated for Week 18

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-01-07

The Falcons elevated Ali from the practice squad heading into Sunday's regular-season finale against Tampa Bay.

Ali will be active for the second week in a row to end the 2022 regular season. The 6-foot wideout did not see any playing time after he was also elevated for the Week 17 win against Arizona, so it's unlikely he'll receive any significant opportunities unless Atlanta benches some of its starters during this Week 18 contest that doesn't have any playoff implications.
