Concussed in possible final game

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-17

Jones (concussion) finished the 2023 season with 11 catches for 74 yards and three touchdowns on 19 targets in 11 games. He also caught all three of his targets for 22 yards in a 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers in the wild-card round before exiting with a concussion.

Jones joined the Eagles in Week 7, adding to an illustrious career in which he has compiled 914 catches for 13,703 yards and 66 touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns came in the penultimate game of the regular season, as Jones -- who will turn 35 years old three days before the Super Bowl -- turned back the clock against the Cardinals. If the playoff defeat in Tampa Bay proves to be his final game, it will be a sour note to go out on, but Jones could have a hard time making a roster even if he wanted to continue his career given his modest production in 2023.

Will not return

Jones (concussion) Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports to Monday's wild-card game versus the Eagles.

Jones' night will end with three receptions for 22 yards. In his absence, Olamide Zaccheaus and Quez Watkins will presumably see increased roles alongside DeVonta Smith at wide receiver.

Evaluated for concussion

Jones exited Monday's matchup with the Buccaneers to be evaluated for a concussion, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Jones was looked at by the team's medical staff following a big hit before he subsequently jogged off the field. The veteran pass catcher tallied three receptions for 22 yards prior to sustaining the injury. If he is unable to return, Olamide Zaccheaus and Quez Watkins would be candidates to see increased snaps at wide receiver.

Adds two receptions in Week 18

Jones caught two passes for 13 yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants.

Jones didn't do much in Sunday's season finale, though he did manage double-digit receiving yards for the second straight week, something he failed to do in his first 11 games as an Eagle. He'll finish the season with 11 catches for 74 yards and three scores.

Checks in with two TD catches

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-31

Jones had two receptions on as many targets for 34 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 35-31 loss to the Cardinals.

Jones unofficially made his debut with the Eagles on Sunday after recording just seven receptions for 27 yards over his previous eight appearances with the club this season. The future Hall of Famer was in vintage form, catching touchdown passes of 12 and 22 yards respectively. Normally we could write off a two-score performance from a role player as an anomaly, but this situation may prove unqiue, and not just because it involves an active legend like Quintorris. The Eagles lost DeVonta Smith (foot) to injury in the fourth quarter and the star receiver was spotted using crutches after the game. The Eagles do have seeding to play for in Week 18, but the optics from Sunday's upset loss combined with the need to prepare for the playoffs could have the team in need of a starting wideout opposite AJ Brown against the Giants. Jones would likely slide into the starting lineup in that scenario, giving him a huge boost in fantasy value after carrying virtually none prior to Week 17.

One catch on Christmas

Jones caught one pass for five yards in Monday's 33-25 win over the Giants.

Jones was targeted a season-high four times but managed just a single reception. He's yet to reach double-digit receiving yards in any of his nine games with the Eagles this season, averaging 0.8 catches for 3.0 yards per game.

Cleared to face Dallas

Jones (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

A limited practice Friday was enough to get Jones off the injury report. The 34-year-old wide receiver will likely continue to have his practice reps managed to keep him fresh for game. Jones hasn't made much of an impact since signing with the Eagles while jostling with Quez Watkins and Olamide Zaccheaus for snaps behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Listed as DNP

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-06

Jones (groin) is listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report.

This might explain why Jones' playing time fell off a cliff (10 snaps) in Sunday's loss to the 49ers, though it's also possible the Eagles simply prefer Quez Watkins (46 snaps) as their No. 3 receiver. Jones was listed with a knee injury the past few weeks, but the groin issue is something new and might impact his availability for a matchup with the Cowboys this Sunday.

Not targeted in Week 13 loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-04

Jones did not see a single target in Sunday's loss to San Francisco.

Jones played the majority of the Eagles' offensive snaps in Weeks 11 and 12, but his snap count plummeted to just 10 in Week 13. The knee issue which limited Jones in practice may have been the culprit, but the fact that fellow wideout Quez Watkins saw his snap count jump from 16 to 43 in his second week back from a hamstring injury may also have been relevant.
