Madubuike agreed to a four-year, $98 million deal with the Ravens on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Baltimore placed the franchise tag on Madubuike less than a week ago, but the two sides have now come to a long-term extension. According to Schefter, $75.5 million of Madubuike's contract is guaranteed and he received $53.5 million at signing. The 26-year-old defensive lineman is coming off the best season of his career, recording 56 total tackles, including 13.0 sacks, while also forcing two fumbles and receiving second-team All-Pro honors in 2023. Madubuike is now the second-highest paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL with a $24.5 million annual salary, and he's expected to continue wreaking havoc on opposing offenses for years to come.

The Ravens officially placed the franchise tag on Madubuike on Tuesday.
Madubuike will earn $22.1 million in guaranteed money for the 2024 campaign if he plays on the franchise tag, but he and Baltimore have until mid-July to continue negotiating a long-term deal. The 2020 third-round pick is coming off a breakout season in which he racked up 38 tackles, 13.0 sacks and two forced fumbles across 17 regular-season games, while earning his first Pro Bowl nod. In his previous three seasons combined, Madubuike had totaled 8.5 sacks.

Madubuike will probably receive the franchise tag if he can not agree on a contract extension before the start of free agency, according to general manager Eric DeCosta, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Madubuike enjoyed a breakout 2023 campaign, that saw him record career highs with 38 tackles, 13 sacks and two forced fumbles while earning Pro Bowl honors. Although it appears the 25-year-old is unlikely to hit the open market, he'd be considered one of the best options available at any position, in free agency.

Madubuike had a breakout regular season in 2023 with 13.0 sacks to go with 56 total tackles over 17 games.
The Texas A&M product picked a good time to have the best year of his career as he emerged as one of the best pass-rushers in football despite playing defensive end in a 3-4 scheme. Only Trey Hendrickson, Maxx Crosby, Aidan Hutchinson and Myles Garrett registered more sacks as a defensive end than Madubuike, and all four of those players play in a 4-3 scheme. Madubuike's ability to collapse the pocket and rush the passer from his spot on the defensive line has been invaluable, and he is a big part of why the Ravens defense has been among the league's best this season. Madubuike and the Ravens host the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Madubuike registered in the sack column for the 12th time in his last 13 games Sunday, extending an extraordinary run for a 300-pound defensive lineman. He's tied for eighth in the NFL in sacks going into Week 18, but it's possible Baltimore could opt to rest the big man Saturday with the top seed in the AFC already locked up.

Madubuike recorded one solo tackle, which was a sack, in Sunday's 23-7 win over the Jaguars.
Madubuike extended his sack streak in Week 15, securing at least 0.5 sacks in 11 games in a row. He was able bring down Trevor Lawrence in the fourth quarter, stripping him of the football in the process, a fumble which was a recovered by teammate Patrick Queen. Madubuike is now up to 45 tackles, including 12 sacks, while forcing two fumbles over 14 contests in 2023.

Madubuike extended his streak of at least 0.5 sacks to 10 games when he got to Matthew Stafford late in the first quarter for an eight-yard loss. He's already registered career highs in tackles (44) and sacks (11) in his fourth year in the NFL and is a large reason the Ravens lead the league with 49 sacks.

Madubuike (concussion) was a full participant in Friday's practice and carries no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams.
Madubuike sustained a concussion in Week 12 against the Chargers. He took advantage of the bye week and logged back-to-back full practices this week. Madubuike will start at defensive end alongside Broderick Washington.

Madubuike recorded half a sack during Sunday's primetime matchup but apparently sustained a concussion and will have several steps to clear before he can return to action. However, he'll have additional time to recover since the Ravens have a Week 13 bye before facing the Rams on Dec. 10.
