Simmons (hip) is listed as out for Sunday's game at the Dolphins, Armando Salguero of Fox News reports.
Simmons missed practice all week, and now he'll have to sit out at least one game as he recovers from a hip injury. 2022 fifth-rounder Delarrin Turner-Yell should see an expanded role in his absence.

Logs another DNP
Simmons (hip) did not practice Thursday, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.
Simmons was unable to practice Wednesday as well, putting the 29-year-old's availability for Sunday's game against the Dolphins in doubt. Considering the importance of the star safety to the Broncos' defense, it's possible he could play without logging a practice this week, but it would still likely increase his chances if he could participate Friday. If he's ultimately unable to play, Delarrin Turner-Yell would likely step into a starting role.
Misses practice
Simmons (hip) did not participate in Denver's practice Wednesday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Simmons popped up on the injury report Wednesday with a hip injury, putting his status for their upcoming game against the Dolphins in doubt. The Broncos will hope their star safety will be good to go Sunday, but if he's unable to play Delarrin Turner-Yell will likely get the start.
Records 10 tackles in loss
Simmons recorded 10 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 35-33 loss to the Commanders.
Simmons' 10 tackles led all Broncos defenders Sunday. Through two games, the 29-year-old safety has recorded the second-most tackles on Denver's defense, trailing only Josey Jewell. Simmons will look to continue his solid start to the 2023 campaign when the Broncos visit the Dolphins in Week 3.
Notches four tackles in Week 1
Simmons recorded four tackles (three solo) in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Raiders.
Simmons was hindered by a groin injury in mid-August, but he appears to have left that behind him as he played all 55 of Denver's defensive snaps in Week 1. The safety is coming off of a 2022 campaign where he compiled 69 tackles, his lowest since 2017, so he'll look to return to form this season.
Practicing again
Simmons (groin) returned to practice Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Simmons had been out of action for a little over two weeks after tweaking his groin in practice. His return is certainly good news for the Denver secondary, and he'll now have multiple weeks to get ready for the team's Week 1 contest against the Raiders.
Dealing with injury
Simmons (groin) did not practice Monday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Simmons "tweaked a groin" a few days ago, according to head coach Sean Payton, and as a result, the team is being cautious with him as he recovers. The 29-year-old set a career-high with six interceptions last season and is an integral part of the secondary, so the team's take-it-easy approach with Simmons makes sense.
Career high in interceptions
Simmons made 69 tackles (42 solo) to go with six interceptions, seven passes defended, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery while playing 12 games across the 2022 season.
Simmons finished his strong 2022 campaign tied for the most interceptions in the league. The veteran safety had a solid year on what proved to be a formidable defensive unit in Denver. The 29-year-old set career highs in both interceptions and forced fumbles, though he could've had a bigger year had he not missed five games due to quadriceps and knee injuries. Simmons is under contract with the Broncos through the 2024 season, so he'll likely return for an eighth season in Denver and try to build upon his impressive performance.
