Sheffield (undisclosed) was activated from the PUP list Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Sheffield returns to the field after opening camp on the physically-unable-to-perform list. He'll now work to earn a role in Houston's secondary after not making an active roster during the 2022 campaign.
The Texans announced that Sheffield (undisclosed) will open up training camp on the active/PUP list Tuesday.
Sheffield will now look to get healthy before the start of the season after signing with the Texans in March. The 27-year-old hasn't appeared in a regular season game since 2021, where he registered four tackles (two solo) for the Falcons and will likely find himself competing for a roster spot once healthy.
The Texans signed Sheffield on Friday.
Sheffield was selected by the Falcons in the fourth round of the 2019 draft and appeared in 38 contests over three seasons before being waived following the 2021 campaign. He was claimed by Houston in May but let go in October and remained a free agent for the remainder of the season. He'll get another chance to spend time with Houston during the offseason and compete for a roster spot heading into training camp.
