Blasingame is expected to be an important part of the Chicago roster, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.

Blasingame has had three rushing attempts during his four years in the league, but his blocking as a fullback is a critical part of the Bears' blocking scheme in the running game. In addition, he plays on special teams. It seems as if Blasingame has an excellent chance of being on the regular-season roster, though don't look for him to get many rushing attempts.

Blasingame's agency announced Wednesday that the fullback re-signed with the Bears on a two-year deal.

Blasingame operated exclusively as a blocker while appearing in 16 games for the Bears in 2022, logging just one target and no carries across 168 snaps on offense.

Plays mostly special teams in 2022

Blasingame didn't handle a rushing attempt in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season without an offensive touch.

Blasingame played about 10 snaps per game as a fullback and about 15 per game as a special teamer. He didn't receive a carry and was targeted once all year, and over his four-year career, he has three rushing attempts and 10 receptions. He's now an unrestricted free agent.
