Targeted once against Texans

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-10

Granson caught his lone target for 23 yards in Saturday's 23-19 loss to the Texans.

Granson finished the season with a quiet day, catching just one pass for the third time in the last three contests. In 15 games this season, the 25-year-old tight end recorded just 30 receptions for 368 yards and one touchdown. He also added a two-yard rush. Targets to tight ends were spread amongst several different options this season, capping Granson's potential to produce consistently meaningful numbers for fantasy. Entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2024, the veteran will hope to establish a more prominent role in the Colts' offensive plans.

Just one reception in win

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-01

Granson had one reception for 13 yards on three targets in Sunday's win over the Raiders.

Granson played on 35 of the offense's 56 snaps, but only went out on 16 routes as the Colts ran the ball with a lead most of the game. Mo Alie-Cox drew the start at tight end and caught two passes, but no tight end was a big factor in the passing game. The Colts continue to divide targets among three or more tight ends heading into the season finale against the Texans.

Team-high yardage total in loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-24

Granson brought in five of seven targets for 62 yards in the Colts' 29-10 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.

Granson led the Colts in receiving yards while checking in second in receptions and tying for the runner-up spot in targets as well. The tight end's surprisingly productive day seemed to be largely the byproduct of the absence of pass-catching back Zack Moss (arm) and top receiver Michael Pittman (concussion), although the matchup against a Falcons defense that's given up plenty of production to tight ends all season didn't hurt his chances. Granson's reception and target tallies were also season highs, but whether he can come close to replicating it in a Week 17 home matchup against the Raiders is highly speculative considering how erratic the Colts' usage of their tight ends has been.

Two receptions in loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-11

Granson started at tight end (along with Mo Alie-Cox in a two-TE formation) and had two receptions for 17 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati.

Granson started and played the most snaps among tight ends, but Will Mallory had bigger numbers in the passing game (5 receptions for 46 yards). The Colts spread out playing time fairly evenly among tight ends as Mallory played on 20 of the offense's 62 snaps, while starter Granson played on 24 snaps, Drew Ogleree played on 17 snaps and Mo Alie-Cox played on 19 snaps (and caught a TD). While Granson is the starter and has give catches his last two games, he's also had two or fewer receptions in 7 of 11 games this season.

Has 72 yards receiving in win

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-04

Granson had three receptions for 72 yards on three targets and one carry for two yards in Sunday's overtime win at Tennessee.

Granson started at tight end but Andrew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox had a similar workload. Granson played 24 snaps while Ogletree played 28 and Alie-Cox played 24. Mallory played 13 snaps. All four tight ends went on between 12 to 13 routes. Granson had the most receptions while Mallory had four targets (two receptions). While Granson had the most yardage, it looks like a pretty equal split between four tight ends in the offense. It's hard to forecast any of the tight ends having a consistent role in the passing game as a result.

No receptions in win

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-27

Granson did not have a reception on his lone target in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.

Granson played on 31 of the offense's 73 snaps, which was second among Indy tight ends (27 snaps for Will Mallory and 34 for Mo Alie-Cox). However, Mallory (two) and Alie-Cox (one) had receptions. No tight end in Indianapolis has much fantasy value given how rarely they are utilized in the passing offense and how the targets are split three ways, and Granson has just one reception in his last three games.

Minimal involvement in win

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-15

Granson caught one of his two targets for five yards in Sunday's 10-6 win over the Colts.

Granson played 32 of the Colts' 57 offensive snaps Sunday, just behind fellow tight end Mo Alie-Cox who finished the game with 34 offensive snaps. In the eight games Granson has played, he has totaled just 17 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown. The 25-year-old will likely continue to see limited opportunities in the Colts' passing attack while splitting snaps with Alie-Cox. Granson should remain off the fantasy radar when the Colts' return from their Week 11 bye to host the Buccaneers on Nov. 26.

No receptions in win

Granson didn't have a reception despite two targets in Sunday's win at Carolina.

Granson returned after missing two games due to a concussion. While he wasn't a big part of the passing offense, he could take on a larger workload next week with Drew Ogletree leaving with a foot injury.

Set to return Sunday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-03

Granson has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and is slated to play Sunday against the Panthers.

Granson, who last suited up in Week 6, is thus slated to re-enter the Colts' tight end mix following a two-game absence. In the six contests Granson has been available for this season, he's caught 16 of his 26 targets for 170 yards and a TD, though in his last outing (Oct. 15 versus the Jaguars), the 2021 fourth rounder hauled in three of his four targets for a season-high 67 yards. In his return to action, however, Granson profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy option, with fellow TEs Drew Ogletree, Mo Alie-Co and Will Mallory also in the mix this weekend.
