Not a roster lock?
Latest Headline: Published 2023-05-19
Granson isn't a lock for the Week 1 roster, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.
Granson led the Indianapolis tight ends with 32 catches last year, but Mo Alie-Cox took more snaps and Jelani Woods had more yards (312-302) and touchdowns (3-0) on the same number of targets (40). While the team didn't make any high-profile additions to the TE room this offseason, there's more competition for jobs with veteran Pharoah Brown and fifth-round pick Will Mallory joining the mix. Mallory could challenge Granson for playing time in passing situations, as both are small for the position and mostly valued for receiving skills/potential. Granson has caught 76.4 percent of his 55 targets since the Colts made him a fourth-round pick in 2021, but he's averaged only 9.7 yards per catch and is still searching for his first NFL touchdown.

Sitting out finale
Latest Headline: Published 2023-01-06
Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday said Granson (ankle) won't play in Sunday's game against the Texans, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
Granson will close out the season with a third consecutive absence, paving the way for Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox to split the bulk of the reps at tight end. A 2021 fourth-round pick out of SMU, Granson amassed 31 receptions for 302 yards and no touchdowns on 40 targets over 13 appearances during his sophomore season.
Misses another practice

Granson (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
Granson missed the past two games and isn't likely to be rushed back for a regular-season finale Sunday against the Texans without any playoff implications. Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox have split snaps at tight end while the 2021 fourth-round pick has sat out the last two weeks.
Ruled out for Week 17

Granson (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Giants.
Granson will miss a second consecutive game due to this injury, leaving Week 18 against the Texans as his last opportunity to make another appearance this season. Jelani Woods has led the Colts in receiving yards in both of the previous games that Granson sat out, so Woods figures to be the primary beneficiary of another Granson absence.
Not practicing Thursday
Latest Headline: Published 2022-12-29
Granson (ankle) wasn't present for Thursday's practice and will be listed as a non-participant for the session, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Granson hasn't practiced in any capacity since he apparently picked up an ankle injury in the Colts' Week 15 overtime loss to the Vikings. Unless he can reverse the trend and get back on the field in some fashion Friday, he'll likely sit out a second straight game this weekend against the Giants. If Granson is sidelined Sunday, Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods would split reps at tight end.
