Jefferson signed with the Cowboys' practice squad Thursday, Patrick Walker of the team's official site reports.
Jefferson was released during final roster cuts but will now stick around in Dallas, albeit on the practice squad. The 26-year-old has seemingly recovered from a plantar fascia injury suffered during the first preseason game and could provide solid depth if called up for action.

Jefferson suffered a plantar fascia injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars.
Jefferson will undergo an MRI on Sunday to find out the extent of the damage. The 26-year-old is working to earn a depth role in the Cowboys' linebacker corps, so a quick recovery would definitely be ideal for the Texas product.
Ruled out for remainder of game

Jefferson suffered a foot injury and has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's contest with the Jaguars, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
The severity of Jefferson's injury is unknown and more information on his status will likely come following the game. The 26-year-old is competing to crack the active roster as a depth linebacker in 2023.
