Back with Jets' practice squad
The Jets signed Taylor to their practice squad Tuesday.
In a corresponding move, linebacker Caleb Johnson was cut from the practice squad. The Jets already carry seven healthy wide receivers on their active roster, so it would be surprising to see Taylor elevated any time soon.

Let go by Jets
New York cut Taylor with a non-football illness Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Taylor made some noise for the Jets in the preseason, so it may be that his current illness negatively impacted his chances of making the initial 53-man roster. Of course, the former Packers was always a longshot to stick beyond the offseason. From 2020-21, Taylor suited up for 25 games in Green Bay as a depth wideout.
Makes 57-yard grab
Taylor caught one of two targets for 57 yards in Thursday's 21-16 preseason loss to the Browns.
Taylor made a nice catch on a deep ball down the sideline from Zach Wilson in the first quarter. The former Packers wide receiver remains a long shot to make the Jets' roster, but Taylor made a nice impression in the preseason opener, as no other Jet reached 20 receiving yards.
Lands new deal with Jets
The Jets signed Taylor to a reserve/future contract Monday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Taylor was placed on Green Bay's IR with an undisclosed injury in mid-August before being waived with an injury settlement Sept. 15. The 27-year-old then spent the majority of the season unsigned before joining the Jets' practice squad Dec. 29. Taylor caught seven of 13 targets for 80 yards and a touchdown across 25 games during the previous two seasons with the Packers. He'll now look to make an impression with the Jets this offseason.
Joins Jets' practice squad
New York signed Taylor to the practice squad Thursday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
Taylor takes the spot of linebacker Kai Nacua on the practice squad. Taylor logged 25 total appearances with the Packers over the 2020 and 2021 seasons, in which span he secured seven of nine targets for 80 yards and one touchdown. Now with the Jets, Taylor will provide some emergency depth at wide receiver.
