Dealt three-game suspension
Maye was suspended three games Wednesday for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
In a rough break for New Orleans, Maye will now have to wait to play again until October 15 at Houston at the earliest. In the meantime, rookie fifth-rounder Jordan Howden figures to fill in at safety.

Six tackles and interception in win
Maye registered six tackles (five solo), an interception and a pass deflection in Sunday's 16-15 win over the Titans.
Maye made his presence felt in Week 1, most notably intercepting Ryan Tannehill inside the redzone to open the second half. The safety played all 59 defensive snaps for New Orleans and he could be primed for a resurgent campaign in his second season with the team.
Has charges dismissed
Maye (shoulder) has had charges dropped following a September 2022 arrest in New Orleans, La. due to insufficient evidence, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Maye's arrest stemmed from accusations of aggravated assault with a firearm, for which he won't face any legal ramifications. However, the NFL may weigh in if it's found that he violated the personal conduct policy. Prior to missing the last three games of last season due to a shoulder injury, Maye totaled 60 tackles, two pass defenses and one forced fumble in 10 appearances.
Won't play Sunday
Maye (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Panthers, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Maye will miss a third straight game to end the 2022 campaign due to a shoulder injury, marking his second three-game absence this year. The veteran safety will finish his first season in New Orleans with 60 tackles, two pass defenses and one forced fumble across 10 appearances.
Chance to play Sunday
Maye (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Panthers.
Maye has missed back-to-back games due to a shoulder injury, but he logged limited practices Thursday and Friday to give himself a chance to suit up Sunday. The veteran safety has recorded 60 tackles, two pass defenses and one forced fumble across 10 appearances during his first season in New Orleans.
Still sidelined in Week 17
Maye (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Maye was unable to practice this week due to his shoulder injury, and he'll be forced to miss a second consecutive game. It's unclear whether he'll be available for the Saints' Week 18 matchup against Carolina.
