Catches 29 passes this season

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-08

Gesicki finished the 2023 season with 29 catches on 45 targets for 244 yards and two TDs in 17 games.

Gesicki was brought in by the Patriots this past March on a one-year deal to pair with fellow tight end Hunter Henry, essentially replacing Jonnu Smith, who the team had traded to the Falcons. At the time, it seemed as though Gesicki would have a chance to bounce back as a pass-catcher following a subpar 2022 campaign with the Dolphins. However, while working in a time-share that tilted in Henry's favor in a passing attack that struggled to find consistency, Gesicki's fantasy impact was modest. Following a 4-13 effort, the Patriots figure to make plenty of changes this offseason, and it remains to be seen whether the team looks to re-sign Gesicki in the coming months.

Team-high four grabs Sunday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-31

Gesicki caught four of six targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Bills.

The catches and targets both led the Patriots, although the tight end wasn't able to do much with the volume. With Hunter Henry (wrist) sidelined the last two games, Gesicki has produced a modest 6-50-1 line on eight targets, so even if Henry misses New England's season finale in Week 18 against the Jets, Gesicki's fantasy value will be minimal.

Likely to fill in for Henry

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-31

Gesicki is expected to serve as the Patriots' top tight end Sunday in Buffalo with Hunter Henry (knee) inactive for the contest, Chris Brown of the Bills Radio Network reports.

While Henry was sidelined for last Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Broncos, Gesicki played two-thirds of New England's snaps on offense and finished with two catches for 15 yards and a touchdown on two targets. Gesicki should remain the top tight end once again Week 17 while Pharaoh Brown serves as the No. 2 option, but neither profiles as a reliable fantasy option within the context of a weak New England passing attack.

Notches TD in Sunday's win

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-25

Gesicki, who was on the field for 38 of a possible 58 snaps on offense in Sunday's 26-23 win over the Broncos, perMike Reiss of ESPN.com, caught both of his targets in the contest for 15 yards and a touchdown.

With Hunter Henry (knee) sidelined Sunday, Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown (27 snaps, two catches for 25 yards) handled the bulk of the Patriots' TE reps in Week 16. Gesicki's TD salvaged what would have otherwise been a quiet fantasy effort, and looking ahead to this weekend's game against the Bills, he profiles as a hit-or-miss lineup option regardless of Henry's status.

One catch Sunday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-18

Gesicki, who was on the field for 21 of a possible 53 snaps on offense, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, caught one of his two targets for seven yards in Sunday's 27-17 loss to Kansas City.

Gesicki's modest production continued in Week 15, but it's possible that he and Pharaoh Brown could see added opportunities this coming weekend against the Broncos if a knee issue causes fellow TE Hunter Henry to miss time. In the event that Henry (who caught seven passes for 66 yards and a TD versus the Chiefs) is unavailable in Week 16, Gesicki's role in New England's passing attack would likely increase, but he'd still profile as a fantasy dart, even in that context.

No targets in Week 14

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-08

Gesicki was on the field for 19 of a possible 57 snaps on offense in Thursday's 21-18 win over the Steelers, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

For the second consecutive game, Gesicki -- who last recorded a catch in Week 10 -- did not log a target. Until or unless he gets more involved in the Patriots offense down the stretch, Gesicki will remain off the fantasy radar.

Limited snaps Sunday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-04

Gesicki logged seven of a possible 64 snaps on offense in Sunday's 6-0 loss to the Chargers, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Gesicki, who was out-snapped in the contest by fellow TEs Hunter Henry (47 snaps) and Pharaoh Brown (32 snaps), did not record a target Sunday. Following back-to-back zero-catch efforts, Gesicki is not a reliable fantasy lineup option as Thursday night's game against the Steelers approaches.

Logs two targets Sunday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-27

Gesicki did not record a catch on two targets during Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Giants.

In a game in which no New England tight end caught a pass, Gesicki was on the field for 18 of a possible 68 snaps on offense Sunday, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. As this coming weekend's game against the Chargers approaches, Gesicki profiles as a fantasy dart in Week 13.

Two catches versus Colts

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-13

Gesicki was on the field for 46 of a possible 69 snaps in Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Colts, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Gesicki -- who caught two of his three targets in the contest for 22 yards -- continues to work in a TE time share with Hunter Henry (50 snaps) and Pharaoh Brown (33 snaps), a context that limits his fantasy utility to deeper formats. Through his first 10 games with the Patriots, Gesicki is averaging 2.1 catches on three targets for 18.2 yards per game.
