Okoronkwo recorded 31 tackles, 4.5 sacks, one pass defensed and a fumble recovery over 14 regular-season games for the Browns in 2023.
Okoronkwo parlayed a strong 2022 season with the Texans into a three-year deal in Cleveland, and the 28-year-old edge rusher gave maximum effort when not sidelined by injury. He showed that effort in returning from a December pectoral injury that initially appeared to be season ending. Okoronkwo maintained a spot in the rotation at defensive end along with Myles Garrett and Za'Darius Smith. It looks like the Browns hit in year one of the deal, and Okoronkwo should remain as part of the edge rotation in 2024.

Okoronkwo had missed Cleveland's last three games with this pectoral injury, but it now seems as if he's had enough time to move past the issue. The 28-year-old could very well start on the Brown's defensive line with Myles Garrett (shoulder/hamstring) missing the team's regular season finale.

Okoronkwo seemingly suffered the injury in Sunday's win over the Jaguars despite playing 49 percent of the team's defensive snaps and recording two solo tackles and a sack. His potential absence in the weeks ahead will be a blow to the Browns' depth on the defensive line and lead to more opportunities for Alex Wright and Isaiah McGuire.

Okoronkwo signed a three-year deal with the Browns after posting five sacks in part-time duty for the Texans. With Jadeveon Clowney released, the organization is betting that Okoronkwo's ascension as an edge rusher continues as part of a revamped defensive line that also welcomes run-stopping defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson in the middle. Alex Wright, in whom the Browns invested a 2022 third-round draft pick, will also be in the defensive end mix. He played about 50 percent of the snaps as a rookie but did not record a sack or quarterback hit.
