Clears injury report Wednesday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-09-06

Hainsey (soreness) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice.

Hainsey was inactive for the Buccaneers' preseason win versus the Jets on Aug. 19 due to soreness. The 25-year-old stepped up into a starting role in place of injured center Ryan Jensen for much of last season. With Jensen set to miss sit out on IR with a knee injury for the entire 2023 campaign, Hainsey should be in line to start Sunday's season opener against the Vikings.

Sits out win versus Jets

Hainsey missed Saturday's win due to soreness from practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

The Buccaneers chose to be cautious with Hainsey and not risk a more severe injury, since the 25-year-old could likely start Week 1 as Ryan Jensen (knee) has yet to be cleared to play. The 2021 third-round pick will now look to get healthy ahead of Tampa Bay's preseason finale against the Ravens on Saturday.

Active versus Dallas

Hainsey (hamstring) is active for Monday's wild-card matchup against Dallas, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Hainsey tweaked his knee during Tampa Bay's regular-season finale and logged limited practices Thursday through Saturday before being deemed questionable. The center will ultimately be active, but he'll presumably operate as a backup to Ryan Jensen, who was activated off injured reserve Monday and is expected to start against Dallas.

Forced out with injury

Hainsey (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Falcons, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Hainsey departed for the locker room after he apparently aggravated an existing hamstring injury, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. In his stead, starting left guard Nick Leverett has slid over to center while John Molchon has stepped in at left guard. With the Buccaneers set to play next week during the wild-card round of the playoffs, it will be worth monitoring Hainsey's status given the injury-riddled state of Tampa Bay's starting offensive line.
