Manages Titans to upset win

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-07

Tannehill completed 17 of 26 passes for 168 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 28-20 win over the Jaguars.

Tannehill served as Tennessee's primary quarterback for the third consecutive game and helped the team to an upset win. He got the offense off to a hot start, leading a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive on the opening possession, which concluded with a 28-yard touchdown toss to Tyjae Spears. Tannehill began the third quarter with his second score, hitting DeAndre Hopkins from six yards away. It was a solid performance for him in what will almost certainly be his final game with the Titans, though Tannehill should be able to find a new deal as a backup for another franchise this offseason.

Week 18 start on tap

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-05

Tannehill will start Sunday's season finale against the Jaguars, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Tannehill will get the starting nod Sunday, with Will Levis dealing with a foot injury and slated to be the Titans' No. 3 QB for the contest. Tannehill -- who drew the start in place of Levis in Week 16 as well -- thus represents a fantasy lineup option this weekend for those would normally rely on Levis or are otherwise scrambling for signal-caller help due to multiple NFL starters being rested in Week 18.

Could start again in Week 18

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-02

Coach Mike Vrabel said Tuesday that Tannehill would start Sunday versus the Jaguars if Will Levis (foot) is unable to suit up, John Glennon of reports.

Tannehill started for Levis in Week 16 when the latter was absent due to a sprained right ankle, and the former subbed in again the Levis when he exited early from this past Sunday's loss at Houston. Over those two performances, Tannehill completed 34 of 46 passes for 320 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions while taking two carries for 37 yards.

Enters in relief of Levis

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-31

Tannehill completed 16 of 20 passes for 168 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Texans.

Will Levis (foot) began the game at quarterback, but he suffered an injury late in the first quarter. As a result, Tannehill entered in relief and turned in a mediocre performance in the blowout loss. Levis has now battled several lower-body injuries in the last several weeks, which could set Tannehill up for a start in a Week 18 matchup against the Jaguars.

Mental mistakes cost team late

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-24

Tannehill completed 18 of 26 pass attempts for 152 yards and gained 37 yards on two rushing attempts in Sunday's 20-17 loss to Seattle.

Tannehill made his first start for the Titans since Week 6 in place of the injured Will Levis (ankle) on Sunday. The converted wide receiver put his athleticism on display on two healthy scrambles, but that's where the good news ends from Tannehill's day. The veteran signal-caller held the ball too long in the pocket and was coverage sacked twice during the Titans' final offensive drive. The pair of mental miscues cost his team its last timeout and eliminated any potential for victory Sunday. Given Tannehill's poor play, Levis figures to reclaim the starting job in Tennessee if he is healthy enough to play against Houston next Sunday.

Locked in for Week 16 start

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-24

Tannehill will serve as the Titans' starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Seahawks with Will Levis (ankle) inactive for the contest, Ben Arthur of reports.

Tannehill will pick up his first start since Week 6 with the Titans deciding to hold out Levis for the matchup with Seattle after the rookie signal-caller sprained his right ankle late in last week's 19-16 overtime loss to the Texans. The 35-year-old Tannehill ceded the starting role to Levis after he completed 62 percent of his passes for 7.1 yards per attempt and a 2:6 TD:INT as the Titans limped out to 2-4 start to the season. Though Tannehill has a strong track record to fall back on compared to most backup quarterbacks around the league, his poor form from earlier this season doesn't inspire the most confidence in his ability to turn in a useful performance during the fantasy playoffs. Tannehill isn't helped by the fact that the Titans have fielded one of the shakier offensive lines in the NFL this season.

Expected to start against Seahawks

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-23

Tannehill is expected to start Sunday's game against the Seahawks, as Will Levis (ankle) isn't expected to play, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.

Tannehill's in line to make his first start since Week 6. Prior to losing the starting job to Levis, Tannehill threw two touchdowns and six interceptions. Official word on Levis' status will be available at least 90 minutes before Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff in Tennessee.

Would start Week 16 if Levis sits

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-12-20

Coach Mike Vrabel said Wednesday that Tannehill will start Sunday against the Seahawks if Will Levis (ankle) is unable to play, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Levis sustained the ankle injury on Tennessee's final offensive play of this past Sunday's overtime loss to the Texans, and he didn't practice Wednesday, per Wyatt. If Levis is unable to play versus the Seahawks, Tannehill would get the starting nod over Malik Willis. Tannehill started Tennessee's first six games of the season and posted an ugly 2:6 TD:INT.

Logs full practice

RotoWire Logo Published: 2023-11-15

Tannehill (ankle) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Tannehill is ready to return but will only be in a backup role behind rookie Will Levis, who struggled the past two weeks after throwing four TD passes in his regular-season debut. Levis presumably would have to be awful to lose the job in December/January, as continued struggles would also have the effect of removing the Titans from playoff contention and making it semi-pointless to go back to Tannehill.
