Relatively quiet in playoff loss

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-13

Hill secured five of eight targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 26-7 wild-card loss to the Chiefs on Saturday night.

Hill's much-ballyhooed return to Arrowhead Stadium did have one standout moment, a 53-yard touchdown reception early in the second quarter that served as the Dolphins 'first points of the night. However, the perennial Pro Bowler was otherwise impressively shut down by the Chiefs' secondary, netting just nine yards on his four other catches. Hill also spent some time on the sideline late in the fourth quarter, although there was no report of an injury. Despite the highly disappointing end to what once appeared to be a potential Super Bowl season for the Dolphins, Hill arguably profiled as the best receiver in the league while establishing new career highs in receiving yards (1,799) and targets (171), as well as tying the career-best 119 receptions he'd recorded in one additional game in 2022.

No designation in return to K.C.

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-11

Hill (ankle/quadricep) doesn't have an injury designation for Saturday's wild-card game against the Chiefs, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Though Hill was listed as a limited participant in practice throughout the week due to the two injuries, he's not expected to face any restrictions as he faces his former team for the second time this season. In the Dolphins' previous matchup with the Chiefs in Frankfurt, Germany in Week 9, Kansas City successfully contained Hill to eight catches for 62 yards on 10 targets. The Chiefs will have most of their key secondary players available in the rematch in Kansas City, and Hill will also have to deal with frigid projected gameday temperatures at Arrowhead Stadium that could stifle the passing game. On a positive note, Hill could have some of the attention drawn away from him if fellow starting receiver Jaylen Waddle -- who is listed as questionable after being a limited practice participant all week -- is able to make his return from a two-game absence due to a high-ankle sprain.

Another 'limited' listing

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-10

Hill (ankle/quad) was listed as limited in Wednesday's walk-through, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Hill was also listed as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, but at this stage his status for Saturday's playoff opener against the Chiefs doesn't appear to be in question. With that in mind, Furones previously relayed that coach Mike McDaniel indicated Wednesday that he's not concerned about the quadriceps issue that Hill is listed as having on top of the ankle injury he's been managing of late. Either way, Thursday's injury report will reveal whether or not the wideout carries an injury designation into the weekend.

Listed as limited to begin week

Hill was listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's estimated practice report due to ankle and quadricep injuries, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Hill's practice participation in Week 18 was affected by a personal matter in addition to the lingering ankle issue, but he's apparently now tending to a quad injury as the Dolphins prepare for Saturday's wild-card matchup with the Chiefs. The fact that Hill was estimated as a limited participant rather than a non-participant to begin the week of practice seemingly bodes well for his chances of being cleared to play Saturday without any restrictions. In his first appearance against his former team back in Week 9, Hill caught eight of 10 targets for 62 yards and ran once for three yards in the Dolphins' 21-14 loss.

Leading receiver off 13 targets

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-07

Hill (ankle/personal) turned 13 targets into seven receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-14 loss to Buffalo.

Hill suited up for the Dolphins' final game of the regular season after dealing with both physical and personal issues during the practice week. The small-framed receiver with big speed did his thing on the field, dominating the targets sans Jaylen Waddle (ankle) en route to a strong fantasy performance. Hill wraps up another monster fantasy campaign with 119 receptions for a league-leading 1,799 receiving yards while finishing in a tie with Tampa Bay's Mike Evans with 13 receiving touchdowns over 16 games. Hill's 2023 campaign will continue in the wild-card round with a road matchup against the Chiefs next Saturday.

Good to go for Week 18

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-05

Hill (ankle/personal) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bills, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.

Hill was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice and didn't practice Thursday, but the lack of practice participation was likely due more to the fallout from learning about a fire that occurred at his residence than the ankle injury that he played through in the previous two games. He returned to full participation Friday, clearing up any lingering concern about his availability heading into Sunday. Even though the Dolphins have already clinched a playoff spot, they'll have plenty of motivation Sunday against the Bills, as the AFC East crown along with the No. 2 seed in the playoffs will be up for grabs between the two teams. With that in mind, Hill is likely to handle his usual heavy workload in the regular-season finale.

Expected to practice Friday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-05

Hill (ankle/personal) is in line to practice Friday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.

Hill, who has been managing an ankle issue and tending to personal matters, didn't practice Thursday, but the wideout's looming return to the field Friday has him trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday night's game against the Bills. The Dolphins' upcoming injury report will reveal whether Hill approaches the contest with an injury designation or fully cleared for Week 18 action.

Not practicing Thursday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-01-04

Hill (ankle/personal) wasn't spotted at Thursday's practice, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.

Hill, who has been managing an ankle issue, left Wednesday's practice early to tend to personal matters, and was deemed a limited participant on the Dolphins' subsequent injury report. With Hill absent from Thursday's session, what the star wideout is able to do Friday will provide key context with regard to his status ahead of Sunday night's game against the Bills.

Limited practice Wednesday

Hill (ankle/personal) was limited at practice Wednesday.

In addition to managing an ankle issue, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN relays that Hill left Wednesday's practice after he became aware that firefighters had been called to battle a fire at his home. Fortunately, nobody living at the home was harmed, per Louis-Jacques. Hill's next opportunity to practice ahead of Sunday night's game against the Bills will arrive Thursday.
